Fun Summer Dessert: Watermelon Pie One of my summertime childhood memories is eating the yummy watermelon sherbet dessert at Friendly’s restaurant. I loved it, so I decided to try to replicate this dessert for my own kids’ summertime memories! I made some “watermelon pie” for our 4th of July feast this year…to great success! My 4-year-old daughter loved it – like mother, like daughter! She saw it in the pan before I sliced it up…at that point it was still just a circle. When I started to cut the pie, making the watermelon slices, she exclaimed very earnestly, “Wow! The best part…watermelon pie was super simple to make! Ingredients: - Lime Sherbet - Vanilla ice cream or Pineapple sherbet - Red/Pink-colored sherbet…I couldn’t find this, so I bought Raspberry/Pineapple/Orange swirl sherbet, mixed it up with red food coloring and it was perfect! Directions:1. A funny tip…I served the watermelon pie on paper plates, but wanted to take a nice picture for this post, so I put my own slice on a real dish. Tagged as: pie
say YES! to hoboken: DIY: Tinted Mason Jars in Rainbow I’ve been experimenting with tinting mason jars to create a look like those old vintage ones that are difficult to find anymore in second hand stores. Fill them with flowers, or illuminate an outdoor party filling them with battery operated tea lights or a strand of twinkle lights. copyright 2014 liz stanley // all rights reserved 30 Cosas Que Debes Dejar de Hacerte a Ti Mismo Banana Split Bites Banana Split Bites ~ A classic ice cream dessert gets mini for some bite size fun. My little guy had some friends over the other day and of course with a mom who is a baker, the expectation is dessert will not only be good but it will be fun. And I was asked, by friend Caroline, not to let her boys eat too much dessert. Keeping all things in mind what I served is what you see here. Here’s what wasn’t a hit and what I learned. Impromptu play dates with four kid’s ages 3-5 year olds after a full work day –not a good idea.Know in advance what other kids will and won’t eat. Luckily, dessert made all things right. you knew i was going to make one. they are all over pinterest....(i still am not signed up for pinterest because i don't have time for one more thing but browsing is fun!) so we made one. i took a box of 64 crayons and took out the blacks and browns.i used another small box and doubled up on the good colors i liked and hot glued them to the top of our canvas. then we turned our blow dryer to hot on high. not long after you set the hair dryer by the crayons they get shiny and then the wax starts to melt! and it dries really quickly too. seriously. what could be happier than this?? GREAT project. loved it today is the first FULL day with ALL my kids in ALL day school.yeah...i am smiling as i type that. it's good. it's quiet. i am rockin' it. removing wallpaper.....making code for craft weekend stuff.....doing my hair....going to lunch..... it's all good. hooray for school!
Sand and Sea Beach Cupcakes I’m usually not one to do themed cupcakes unless they are really easy, and these are. I made lemon flavored cupcakes just by using store bought cake mix and then a simple homemade buttercream. You don’t even need a pastry bag to frost the cupcakes, this recipe only requires a butter knife. I first saw these cupcakes on Martha Stewart, and instantly fell in love with them. This isn’t the same recipe as on the Martha site, but they look very similar. For the shark fins, I thought my son had some darker blue or grey colored construction paper, but all I found was this light blue. Don’t forget to bring the kids in the kitchen for these easy cupcakes. Sand and Sea Beach Cupcakes {Lemon Cupcakes with Buttercream Frosting} Ingredients For the cupcakes 1 box yellow cake mix 1 small box instant lemon pudding mix all other ingredients according to package directions on cake box, including one extra egg For the frosting Other ingredients Method 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.
