The centre will be clearly defined by a ‘green ribbon’ of proud trees. A large extension of shops, leisure, horeca, offices and houses will make the central area into a lively city centre. Lelystad was build in the late 1960’s and inherited the ideals of modernist urban planning. The project will go hand in hand with the redesign of the public space.
Bjarke Ingels Group BIG | Bjarke Ingels Group OFFENTLIGT BYGGERI Ricardo Porro og Renaud de la Noue kommer med forskellig baggrund og traditioner: Porro er kunstner-arkitekt, inspireret af Renæssance, mens de la Noue er pragmatisk og teknisk indstillet. Begge er dog enige i, at arkitekturen skal udtrykke et indhold igennem en form og lægge vægt på den urbane dimension. Kollegium er et eksempel på denne urbanisme og er næsten en by i en by. Arkitekterne vælger en særlig form til planen: En due. Den symboliserer fred (kollegium blev bygget i en periode, hvor adskillige konflikter var i gang), men også lærdom og kultur. Ved indgangen er der store farverige vinduer, inspireret af den gotiske periode. Den særlige fugleform i planen er funktionel udover at være symbolsk. Bygningsmaterialer er blevet valgt i forhold til omgivelser: Mursten kendetegner Saint Denis samt mange af Paris’ forstæder.

Neither opulent nor austere, Holy Rosary Chapel presents a thoughtful meditation on sacred spaces and the spatial embodiment of spiritual experience.
