La toute récente cyber attaque du ransomware wanacry a atteint un niveau sans précédent : alors qu’elle n’est pas finie (on peut craindre que diverses mutations de ce virus causent de nouveaux dégâts dans un futur proche) elle illustre parfaitement plusieurs problématiques autour de la cyber-sécurité et montre combien ces dernières sont à la fois cruciales et extrêmement complexes à gérer. Une attaque dévastatrice L’attaque « WannaCry » dont les effets se sont répandus le 12 mai est à ce jour inédite. Des services hospitaliers du NHS anglais (certaines opérations ont du être reportées) aux sites industriels (qui se retrouvent à l’arrêt) en passant par le ministère de l’Intérieur de la fédération de Russie, les estimations de dommages sont encore parcellaires mais indiquent déjà des centaines de milliers de victimes dans plus de 150 pays. Des témoignages alarmants Selon le profils consultés par l'ONG, les témoins expliquent "qu'aucun des policiers n'a présenté de mandat d'autorisation ou a prévenu les citoyens de leur visite".

At the outset of a new project, or especially if you’ve recently taken over a product, it’s tempting to survey all your users to appraise where things are. It’s usually a mistake. 1. When you survey all your users together you ignore the specifics. Solution: There’s a much cleaner way to get much better feedback. Bien souvent hébergé dans des pays en voie de développement, ces lieux tenus secrets emploient, pour un salaire dérisoire, des travailleurs chargés de multiplier les likes, les faux avis positifs ou encore les clics sur une page ou une application. Le but étant de booster la popularité de cette dernière, pour qu’elle remonte dans le classement des stores, et bénéficie d’une meilleure visibilité. Project recreates cities in rich 3D from images harvested online | TechCrunch People are taking photos and videos all over major cities, all the time, from every angle. Theoretically, with enough of them, you could map every street and building — wait, did I say theoretically? I meant in practice, as the VarCity project has demonstrated with Zurich, Switzerland. This multi-year effort has taken images from numerous online sources — social media, public webcams, transit cameras, aerial shots — and analyzed them to create a 3D map of the city. Because that’s the case, the VarCity data is extra rich. The algorithms created and tuned over years by the team ETH Zurich’s Computer Vision Lab can also tell the difference between sidewalk and road, pavement and grass, and so on. The idea is that you could set these algorithms free on other large piles of data and automatically create a similarly rich set of data without having to collect it on your own. Estonia’s Funderbeam is building a blockchain-based “stock exchange” for startups | TechCrunch Headed up by Kaidi Ruusalepp, who was previously CEO of the Nasdaq Tallinn stock exchange, Estonia’s Funderbeam is on a mission to build what she calls a “funding and trading engine for growth companies”. Providing tools to research, fund and trade in private companies, the bigger vision is to build something akin to a “stock exchange” for startups based on blockchain technology. To make that vision a reality, Funderbeam has raised $2.6 million in further funding. Leaning the round is Draper Associates, Thomson Reuters, and IQ Capital, with participation from an array of previous Funderbeam backers, such as 3TS Capital Partners. “There’s too much complexity in the pre-IPO/private market. “Today growth companies look to the stock markets only as a serious option for exits. This of course is where Funderbeam comes in. But to truly solve the liquidity problem, there needs to be a transparent and trustworthy platform for secondary trading, and one that can work across borders.
