ESL Lesson Planning Planning a Lesson Planning a lesson before teaching is a fundamental part of giving an effective ESL lesson. Depending on the experience of the teacher and the nature of the lesson, the planning process can be quite varied. Lesson planning is important for developing the structure of a lesson and organizing its content. Planning should not limit or restrict the teacher. Many factors need to be accounted for when planning a lesson. To create effective yet realistic plans, teachers should try to anticipate and prepare for what can happen during a lesson to the best of their ability. Here is a list of factors to consider when planning a lesson: Lesson Aims A good place to start is to ask, ''What language skill am I trying to develop?” By doing this you are prioritising aims that focus on achievement and help ensure lessons are more student-centred. Language Focus The language focus should be directly linked to the aim of the lesson. Teaching Activities Suitability Timing Sequencing Materials 1. 2.

Song: Sugar - Maroon 5 I made this worksheet because I needed a more "challenging" one for my students to keep them focused, as they almost know this song by heart (I noticed that if the worksheet is easy, they lose interest, even if they like the song). They were sure that it would be an easy task, but I managed to surprise them :) There are 8 different exercises: choose the right word, fill the gaps, fill the gaps with antonyms, choose the correct spelling, find and correct the mistakes, complete the missing letters, match the lines and underline the words you hear. They enjoyed it and we had a lot of fun! I hope you like it too! What is the definition of a beginner ESL student? First things first – let’s start with an overview of student levels. There are also several popular, more in-depth classification systems, such as the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which assigns students to six different categories. Beginner A beginner English student is focused on learning essential vocabulary, such as family names, household objects, basic adjectives, and place names. It’s worth noting that most students are not total beginners, as they have had some exposure to English, whether through movies and music or basic school lessons during younger years.
