Rolling Stones concerts Since forming in 1962, the English rock band The Rolling Stones have performed more than two thousand concerts around the world, becoming one of the world's most popular live music attractions in the process. In their early years of performing, the band would undertake numerous short tours of the United Kingdom and North America, playing in small- and medium-size venues to audiences composed largely of screaming girls. As time moved on, their audience based expanded (in terms of both size and diversity) and they would increasingly favour larger arenas and stadiums. For many years, the group would choose to play North America, Continental Europe, and the United Kingdom on a three-year rotating cycle. Many audio recordings exist of Rolling Stones concerts, both official and unofficial. The biggest concert the band gave was in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during the "Bigger Bang Tour", in 2006. Howardites Howardites are the H class in the HED achondrite clan (howard-eucrite-diogenite). Howardites are polymict breccias composed of angular clasts of eucrites and diogenites welded together by pulverized mineral dust. They do not have unique mineral characteristics like other meteorite classes. Surface of the NWA 776 howardite. Consists of eucrite fragments or clasts (example of white plagioclase and dark pyroxene eucrite shown in upper left), diogenite pyroxene grains (green), and clasts (dark). Height is 2 cm. Howardite ALH 76005. Although larger asteroids are accepted as the parents of meteorites, in all but one case, it is impossible to link a specific meteorite with a known asteroid. Vesta. Vesta is a mini-planet where in its early history partial melting gave rise to layered plutonic rocks like diogenites after which melting in the near surface produced basaltic flows or eucrites. Spectral reflectance data for Vesta (above) allow construction of a geological map of the surface.

The Rolling Stones The band continued to release commercially successful records through the 1970s and selling many albums with Some Girls (1978) and Tattoo You (1981) being their two most sold albums worldwide. In the 1980s, a feud between Jagger and Richards about the band's musical direction almost caused the band to split but they managed to patch their relationship and had a big comeback with Steel Wheels (1989) which was followed by a big stadium and arena tour. Since the 1990s, new recorded material from the group has been both increasingly less well-received and less frequent. Despite this, the Rolling Stones have continued to be a huge attraction on the live circuit with big stadium tours continuing through the 1990s and 2000s. By 2007, the band had made what were then four of the top five highest-grossing concert tours of all time (Voodoo Lounge Tour (1994–95), Bridges to Babylon Tour (1997–99), Licks Tour (2002–03) and A Bigger Bang Tour (2005–07). Ungrouped Achondrites There are several unusual primitive achondrites that apparently are not related to the lodranite-acapulcoite or brachinite parent bodies. Divnoe and Zag (b) are two FeO-rich achondrites that are similar to brachinites, but with different oxygen isotope patterns. NWA 3133 and 1839 specimens were originally classified as L7 chondrites, but oxygen isotope analyses show that these meteorites are primitive achondrites whose oxygen isotopes plot on the CV3 mixing line and may represent melt differentiates of a moderately large CV3 parent body. NWA 011/2400 (see classification below) is very different from other primitive achondrites in having FeO/MnO molecular ratios similar to lunar rocks and oxygen isotopes consistent with CR carbonaceous chondrites. Thus, because they mirror thecomposition of the Sun, their compositions are widelyused to estimate the abundances of almost all the elementsin the Solar System (e.g.,Anders and Ebihara, 1982;Cameron, 1982; Anders and Grevesse, 1989; Lodderset al., 2009).Over the years, a huge amount of chemical data hasbeen obtained on CI chondrites (e.g.,Lodders et al.,2009). Book- Ureilites The ureilite class is named after the type example Novo-Urei, Russia that fell in 1886 and is one of the strangest of meteorites. Ureilites contain olivine and pyroxenes (pigeonite, augite, or orthopyroxene, depending on the sample) with filling of the intergranular spaces by graphite (rarely, tiny diamonds), Fe metal with very low Ni, sulfides, Fe3C and minor accessory phases. These minerals form ugly, dark, opaque masses that we refer to as carbonaceous-metal-silicate-masses or CMSM. Their origin is highly controversial. Probably more than 80% of ureilites are classified as typical, characterized by olivine and pyroxene grains that are < one mm in size, anhedral with 120° triple junctions, and are devoid of plagioclase. After classifying several dozen ureilites, we began to see a pattern of increased reduction of olivine and to a lesser extent, pyroxenes, compared with a concomitant loss of graphite. FeSiO3 (in olivine) + C (graphite) → Fe (metal) + CO + SiO2 Graphite.

Genesis: Search for Origins | News - Features - Isotopes | JPL | NASA by Bob Silberg, Science Writer "It is, of course, a trifle, but there is nothing so important as trifles. The Man with the Twisted Lip by Arthur Conan Doyle Your last drink of water contained isotopes that could help a Crime Scene Investigation unit determine where you've been living if they find a few strands of your hair. Apollo astronauts brought home lunar rocks containing isotopes that strongly support the theory that the material that makes up the Moon splashed out of the Earth during a collision with a Mars-size planet eons ago. What are isotopes? Here's the simplest example: On the left is an ordinary hydrogen atom, with a single proton as its nucleus. That water also contains all three stable isotopes of oxygen. You might notice that the name of each isotope comes from adding the numbers of protons and neutrons, which also tells us its mass (an atom gets one mass unit for each proton and neutron). Some isotopes are stable, while others are not. Mass-dependent fractionation
