Tutorial Outpost – Photoshop Tutorials, Flash Tutorials, and more! Tutorials >> Laser-Cut Metal OK - the most important step to getting the "spark" effect right is choosing the right brushes. In addition to the brushes available at BioRUST, there is a good selection here:PS Brushes.net - Photoshop Brushes, Your Number one source for Photoshop Brushes I used some of the Lady Victoire "Flare" brushes. The process is then just a matter of building up the effect, as follows:
Make a new layer for each brush strokeSet the layer's Blending Mode to Screen Vary the colour and the brush tip on each layerUse Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur to soften the brush strokes if necessaryExperiment with lowering each Flare layer's Opacity to help blend them together
Here is my take on the effect: and here's how my Layers Palette looked: As you can see, I used three different coloured "flares" (white, orange and yellow) and then added a simple round white "hot spot" to represent the point of the laser.Hope this explains it adequately.

Image Noise Reduction | Image Editing Tutorials Image Editing Tutorial You might have noticed that under certain conditions, the image acquired with your DSLR has far too much information, thus creating noise and digital artifacts that mar your photo. This is particularly an issue when you're shooting at night and/or with a high ISO in other low-light conditions... it's the downside of attempting to capture an image when the exposure latitude (the difference between the lightest and darkest section) is wide. So Photoshop has the ability, when properly applied, to eliminate a tremendous amount of that noise. Here are a few methods to do it.

Awesome digital bokeh effect in Photoshop Our last Wallpaper of the Week was an image I had created using Pixelmator, and I really liked the outcome. The best part about it was that it was pretty easy to accomplish in Pixelmator, but I decided for perspective's sake to create the same effect in Photoshop. The process is easy as well, but with a few extra steps. As in the previous tutorial, I will show you how to create a digital bokeh effect, but this time in Photoshop. Step 1 Create a new document in Photoshop. Step 2 Select the Ellipse Tool (U), and create a circle. Step 3 Select the ellipse and go to Edit>Define Brush. Step 4 Go to Window>Brushes (F5). Step 5 Before we start painting our bokehs let's create a new layer and fill it with a colorful gradient. Step 6 Let's create a new Folder in our Layer Palette. Step 7 Go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur. Step 8 Create another layer and paint more brushes. Step 9 Create another layer and repeat the previous step, this time however use a much smaller brush. Black and White with a Splash of Colour Email One of the techniques people most often ask me to teach them is making a photograph like the one on the right that is black and white with one other colour. There are a few ways to achieve this effect but here are two ones I find easiest for Photoshop users. The First Way 1) Open a suitable photograph, this can be any subject but ideally it needs an area of bright colour that will have an impact when it’s finished while the rest of the photo looks good in black and white. 2) Then make a copy of a layer with the image. 3) Now go back to first layer with the image and turn it black and white using the “Black & White” button on the right side. 4) Select the Eraser Tool from the tool menu on the left of the screen (usually the fifth icon down in the right hand column), set hardness to 100% and choose a suitable eraser size to work with on the section of the photo you want to put in colour. The Second Way 1) Open the image you like in Photoshop. And this is it! It’s that simple! Conclusion
