Headboard From Wooden Skids (aka Pallets) This idea came courtesy of Julia Black from Pure Design, who hosted a video series for us called The Green Geek. Watch how she transformed three skids and some salvaged wood into a beachy white headboard for a queen size bed (three skids are the perfect size!). Chair Turned Bathroom Caddy Image: Pink to Green blog (via French Charming, originally from Country Living) This is one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" Large Wooden Spool Turned Art Table/Coffee Table Image: Design*Sponge I was actually inspired last night at the bus stop (in front of a condo construction project) by four large wooden spools just sitting around, just the perfect size and shape for my current coffee table conundrum. Vintage Crates Turned Storage Images: Apartment Therapy This isn't a new idea, but it's a good one!

Handmade Salt Pouches For The Shower Or Bath I love salt scrubs, especially this time of year when I want to slough off the dead skin from winter, and I equally love bath salts for the skin softening ingredients in them – but more often than not I find myself in the shower. These pouches are perfect for combining both bath salt and salt scrub into an exfoliating pouch I can bring into the shower, and they are simple to make. You can go a few different routes when making these so play around with your recipes and find your favorite. I made these for my mom for Mother’s Day so I added a few things for specific reasons. I will list them to give you an idea of how you can customize these to suit your needs. A few different ideas for a mix: Oatmeal, lavender buds, and powdered milk with a little of your favorite essential oilJust sea salt and grapefruit or petitgrain essential oil for an invigorating scrubSalts, herbs, and essential oil Start with 6 cheap washcloths. DIY {pallet reading bed for the nursery} & ashleyannphotography.com UPDATE: For those following a link directly to this post, you can find pictures of the entire nursery HERE UPDATE: I recently found out the owner of the bed that inspired mine, check out her incredible site HERE When we began planning the nursery I really wanted a spot I could read with our kids and snuggle with them. Since I won’t be working as much, I have great hopes that maybe every once and a while I could cuddle down for a nap with one of them. So in working on the nursery, I began working on a ‘reading bed’ for us. Granted this will be a great bed for naps and for kids, but it is not designed to be an adult bed. I was inspired by this picture and then made it my own. Materials: Wood pallets (ours a bit smaller than the standard size) Palm Sander 80 grit, 200 grit sandpaper 5 large caster wheels 4 hinges Thick foam for the ‘mattress’ – mine is from a fabric store then covered in a down comforter and soft bedding The instructions are a simple as can be: Sand the pallets good and smooth.
More Quilled Lettering! Ready for some more fab lettering? Today's examples were created by a quilling newbie who was inspired by Yulia Brodskaya, just like Kara from Monday's post. Erin Casner quilled Everything is Awesome as her very first project! While expecting a baby, she wanted to make colorful wall art for the nursery. Not having proper quilling paper and tools certainly didn't stop her... Erin snipped the end off the eye of a needle to use as a rolling tool and cut strips of lightweight cardstock from her stash. Consider these rainbow paloozas as Erin calls them - love that! Next, Erin made this Imagine piece, also for the baby's room. This nice, big C is her most recent piece for the nursery. Follow Erin's adventures via her blog, Schmancy-ness.

It’s been a busy week with a trip to Seattle for the Picasso exhibition and a drive out to the coast but I knew I had to share this amazing remodel with you before the week came to a close. Everyone loves good makeovers and the ones involving tiny spaces, creative design and ingenious solutions are my all time favorites! Check out how Seattle artist, designer and welder, Michelle de la Vega, created this beautiful little 250 sq. ft. haven… The before… This lonely little detached garage is just begging for some love. The after! A cozy, light filled sleeping loft is so perfect for the space. The kitchen is well organized and accessible with open storage solutions. The rustic wood burning stove becomes sculptural in this room along with Michelle’s own art installations. The glass boxes housing pillow forms are actually a tribute to Michelle’s father. You know I am a big fan of great bathroom design and this one delivers. How many of us have garages that only house our junk!?

Look at Your Interior and Love It With Mira En Tu Interior Designs Artwork makes a big impact on a space: it draws the eye towards something beautiful and focuses the attention, and it fills in negative space while expressing one's personality and tastes. On a larger scale, it is one of the easiest ways to make a dramatic impact and change the whole feeling of a space. Barcelona-based Mira En Tu Interior's vinyl stickers can enliven the "skin" of your walls in one fell swoop, providing some dazzling flavor to otherwise empty space. Mira En Tu Interior offers several designs along different themes: flowers, dreams and abstractions, geometric doodles, blurbs of text (mostly in Spanish), and even stuff for the kiddos. Another bonus is that the patterns generally come in several different sizes and colors, for a really customized piece. So if you have some sad, bare walls in your house you may find just the splash of modern verve you're looking for here.
