PostSecret District of Chic Answer to a reader question Hi, I just found your blog and I think it is a really cute idea. PLEASE don't take this as a bad or mean thing, I am really curious to know how you have the time to dress up, do hair and makeup and take a picture with a toddler in the house. When my kids were toddlers I couldnt even take a shower, most days I never got out of my pjs and make up was a distant part of my history. Please dont think this is negative, I really want to knowI'm not offended at all! That's an honest question and I'm happy to answer. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Now, this doesn't mean I ignore my son all day, or anything like that! Also, my circumstances of having only one toddler, and a toddler who happens to be very compliant, may be totally different than what you went through. -Nic Not taking negatively at all! -Missi

Domestic Sophisticate Last night we went out to eat with a group of friends. I decided I wanted to wear this sparkly necklace, and the outfit evolved from there. Wearing the necklace with a white t-sirt and jeans helped the look not get too dressy, but the leather jacket and boots kept it polished. I decided after that I wanted to add a little warmth and thought perhaps this stole would be fun. After I put it on and took the picture, though, I thought it was a little too big so I went with the fur vest instead. A little sparkly clutch keeping with the neutral color scheme, and I had my outfit. teaching Works Cited--Outfit 23skirt: urban outfittersblouse: h&mbelt: j crewtights (gray layered over black): both gapmaryjane clogs: dansko As I get older, I have embraced that I am uncool compared to a lot of people--I have at least 50 times as many books as shoes, I get awkwardly over-excited about literary modernism in front of 19 year-olds every week, I color-code or alphabetize everything, I drop papers and trip over curbs and clumsily slip down stairs in public places, and I'm secretly terrified of big parties where I don't know people. However, I am never more aware of this uncool-ness than on the days I wear danskos and just love them and feel more myself than ever. Danskos are all the things my New Englander mother thinks shoes should be--comfortable and practical and they provide good arch support--and in spite of them being sensible shoes (as sensible as they come), I still love the way they look.
