"Upcycled" Cosmo Magnets & Tutorial Hi Everyone. It's the end of the school holidays here and it has been a fun but COLD two weeks off. I have a fun tutorial to share today. I have seen several variations of this idea on-line but here is my version. I have used the Cosmo Cricket "Upcyle" Collection which is perfect with it's bright colors and fun themes. These magnets are so much fun to make and you really only need a few basic supplies. Now - I know you can probably buy these glass domes but I couldn't find anywhere here in New Zealand to get them, so I have "upcycled" these ones from The Warehouse.Preparing the Glass Domes Buy some cheap magnets Carefully remove backing (definitely adults only) Scrape away most of the glue with a sharp craft knife Use a pot scourer to remove remaining glue Making the Magnets Here are some close-ups of the magnets. Speaking of brilliant autumn colors, I’m thrilled to share this stunning maple leaf rose bouquet DIY from a fellow Kate — clay, fiber and paper artist Kate Hust. Kate first learned how to make these a few years ago from a retired art teacher in her community, and now they’ve become an annual tradition when fall rolls around. Her instructor taught her to wrap the leaves really tight, so they looked like rose buds, but Kate has modified the technique a bit to suit her own tastes: She likes to find the really big leaves and make them with large open “petals.” She’s clearly perfected the craft, and I’m so happy that she’s decided to pass the tradition on to us. ✥Downloadable Labels for Homemade Cleaning Products + More Recipes{Pt. 3}✥ This would be the 3rd post with all-natural, homemade cleaning supply recipes. But this time, I'm also posting a collection of downloadable labels for them. {yay} If you missed the other cleaning suply posts, you should definitely check the out. I have to say these labels from Vinnie Pearce are my personal favorite. Mix equal parts water and white vinegar in a bowl Add essential oil a and soak dusters until they're damp Peel the rind of lemons and lay a few on each piece of cloth Roll clothes lengthwise then roll that into a ball Use as needed
Making Mozzarella At Home For Christmas we received a Mozzarella kit from Leener's. We had heard it was quite easy to make but I have to admit I was a little skeptical. Well, I was so wrong, making mozzarella was super easy to make & the results were wonderful! You just have to have a little patience to let the milk heat slowly & in an hour you are eating your own fresh cheese! First you ripen 1 gallon of milk with a bit of citric acid, lipase, and calcium chloride. Once the milk reaches 88°F, you add rennet and continue heating to 105 F. By the time it reaches 105°F, it will start to look at little chunky. After resting for 20 minutes you'll be rewarded with a big chunk of cheese curds. Remove the curds with a slotted spoon, leaving the whey in the pan. Lightly smash the curds with a spoon to squeeze as much whey out of them as possible, then drain. Continue kneading with a spoon until the cheese pulls together into a ball and sticks to the spoon. At this point you will have a soft mozzarella ball.

Take a Memo Our Modish project this month was a magnetic memo board. I love this project - especially for the kitchen because my refrigerator is stainless steel so I always need a way to display the kiddos' artwork, my endless supply of lists, and various other lovelies. This one is going into the office space that I share with my husband. All you need for this project is a large scrap of fabric, a pizza pan (or cookie sheet), Mod Podge, scissors, and a ribbon. I also added an initial that I cut with my Silhouette from a sheet of Duck Tape. Coat the back of your pan with a generous coat of Mod Podge. Lay your fabric over the Mod Podge and smooth into place. I recommend working slowly so that your fabric stays in place as the glue dries. Once your fabric is in place and the bond has started to set, trim around the edges. Clip into your allowance about 3/4" all of the way around the pan. Add your embellishments. Glue a ribbon to serve as your hanger. {Hooray for scraps!} Voila!
