Fundamental attribution error
In social psychology, the fundamental attribution error, also known as the correspondence bias or attribution effect, is people's tendency to place an undue emphasis on internal characteristics to explain someone else's behavior in a given situation, rather than considering external factors. It does not explain interpretations of one's own behavior, where situational factors are more easily recognized and can thus be taken into consideration. Conversely, from the other perspective this error is known as the actor–observer bias, in which people tend to overemphasize the role of a situation in their behaviors and underemphasize the role of their own personalities. Examples[edit] Alice, a driver, is about to pass through an intersection. Details[edit] Classic demonstration study: Jones and Harris (1967)[edit] Subjects read essays for and against Fidel Castro, and were asked to rate the pro-Castro attitudes of the writers. The Awkward Situation Survival Guide Awkward silence You are talking to an acquaintance or having dinner with your coworkers. The conversation suddenly comes to a crossroads and no one knows where to steer it. The silence has extended past the 6-second mark and the awkwardness is increasing exponentially. Worst of all, you were the last person to speak, so everyone thinks the awkwardness is your fault. The Solution: Sudden, loud noise Foot-in-mouth You are having a great time, talking loudly, feeling like the life of the party. Now everyone is staring at you and your confidence implodes like a punctured balloon. The Solution: Confuse... ... or redirect... Getting caught staring Sometimes you are ogling a pretty girl, sometimes you are trying to get a better look at a horribly misshapen person and sometimes you are just spacing out and your eyes happen to be pointing directly at someone. Whatever the case, when you are caught, you will feel shame. The Solution: Encounters with close talkers Unwanted conversation

Google Docs An example of a document in Google Docs Google Docs is a free, web-based office suite offered by Google within its Google Drive service. It was formerly a storage service as well, but has since been replaced by Google Drive.[3] It allows users to create and edit documents online while collaborating with other users live. Google Docs combines the features of Writely and Spreadsheets with a presentation program incorporating technology designed by Tonic Systems. Data storage of files was introduced on January 12, 2010 with 1 GB of free space. History[edit] Writely's beta logo Google Docs originated from two separate products, Writely and Google Spreadsheets. Spreadsheets, launched as Google Labs Spreadsheets on June 6, 2006,[7] originated from the acquisition of the XL2Web product by 2Web Technologies. Writely originally ran on Microsoft ASP.NET technology which uses Microsoft Windows. In February 2007, Google Docs was made available to Google Apps users. Features[edit] File limits[edit]

Single Dad Laughing: The disease called "Perfection" As a warning, the following post was written in complete desperation. I have recently learned some very sobering truths from people that I love dearly. These truths have set in motion a quest within me to do whatever I can to make a change. I have to wonder. And chances are it’s hit you too. What is the disease called ”Perfection”? We live in communities where people feel unconquerable amounts of pressure to always appear perfectly happy, perfectly functional, and perfectly figured. “Perfection” is a wife who feels trapped in a marriage to a lazy, angry, small man, but at soccer practice tells the other wives how wonderful her husband always is. “Perfection” is a husband who is belittled, unappreciated, and abused by his wife, yet works endlessly to make his marriage appear incredible to those who surround him at the water cooler. ”Perfection” really does keep people from being real about the truth. “Perfection” is when a son has a forbidden addiction, and despises himself for it.

Ghost in the Shell Title[edit] Shirow has stated that he had always wanted the title of his manga to be "GHOST IN THE SHELL", even in Japan, but his original publishers preferred Kōkaku Kidōtai He had chosen "Ghost in the Shell" in homage to Arthur Koestler's The Ghost in the Machine, from which he also drew inspiration.[1] Setting[edit] Primarily set in the mid-twenty-first century in the fictional Japanese city of Niihama, Niihama Prefecture (新浜県新浜市, Niihama-ken Niihama-shi?) In this post-cyberpunk iteration of a possible future, computer technology has advanced to the point that many members of the public possess cyberbrains, technology that allows them to interface their biological brain with various networks. Media[edit] Original manga[edit] Animated films[edit] Video games[edit] Live-action adaptation[edit] Stand Alone Complex[edit] In addition to the anime, there were published works on the series as well. The extensive score for the series and its films was composed by Yoko Kanno. Arise[edit]

Lost Realist Martin Van Buren Martin Van Buren (December 5, 1782 – July 24, 1862) was the eighth President of the United States (1837–1841). Before his presidency, he was the eighth Vice President (1833–1837) and the tenth Secretary of State (1829–1831), both under Andrew Jackson. As Andrew Jackson's Secretary of State and then Vice President, Van Buren was a key figure in building the organizational structure for Jacksonian democracy, particularly in New York. Early life and education[edit] Van Buren was the first president born a citizen of the United States, as all previous presidents were born before the American Revolution. Van Buren received a basic education at a poorly lit schoolhouse in his native village and later studied Latin briefly at the Kinderhook Academy and at Washington Seminary in Claverack.[7] He excelled in composition and speaking. Van Buren married Hannah Hoes, his childhood sweetheart and first cousin once removed, on February 21, 1807, in Catskill, New York. Early political career[edit] U.S.

Confessions of a Pioneer Woman I walked outside on the porch yesterday before leaving for church so that I could scratch Hooker‘s ears and reassure her that I love and adore her, which I try to do once a day so she doesn’t ever doubt it, when lo and behold, I came face to face with this bull. If you want to know the honest truth, before I was able to take my phone out of my back pocket and snap this photo, he was peeing…right there on the ground beside my flower bed. And he wasn’t just peeing—he was defiantly peeing. He was peeing while looking straight at me; my sudden presence on the porch didn’t startle or concern him one bit. I was but a speck. Finally, the bull finished his business but continued to look straight at me, and I stood there, somewhat frozen, convinced that if I made too drastic a move, he would leap onto the porch, head-butt me, and stomp me into the concrete. And without flinching, the bull turned on his heels and skittered right out of our yard. I don’t get no respect around here!
