So after some laughter on the other end and a description of exactly where I'm at, my mom asks me, "Hey whats that title of that movie with the itch in it." My reply is a moment of stunned silence (These always catch me off guard and I should so be used to this by now.) Of which, she responds, "Ya Know the one with the guy from Germany and he's singing and he's got the itch....." "Wait... "Yes! "No, it's inch, mom" "No, it's not, It's itch, cause you know he's got the itch." "What itch?" "You know like the itch?" "Where the hell did you get itch from? "no, its itch, I tell you, I swear to god its itch." "Because his penis is only an inch long" "His what?"
Nokia Ringtone Interrupts, Violist Plays Along [VIRAL VIDEO] If you've ever been watching a movie or attending a concert and someone's ringtone interrupts the proceedings, you'll appreciate this video that's recently gone viral on YouTube. As Slovakian musician Lukáš Kmit played a beautiful piece on his viola, suddenly the obnoxious Nokia ringtone blasted through the reverie. What a wonderful reaction he had! Instead of stopping the music altogether (like what happened at a New York Philharmonic concert earlier this month when an iPhone's "marimba" ringtone so blatantly interrupted the music that the conductor stopped the entire orchestra), Lukáš picked up on the Nokia noise, playing it more beautifully than we've ever heard. While some commenters are calling this a fake and a setup, it looks real to us. Or, it could be that Lukáš is familiar with the original version of the Nokia ring tone, a lovely guitar piece composed in 1902 by Spanish guitarist Francisco Tárrega called "Gran Vals." I found a guy on Craigslist that wanted to desperately get rid of his things at super cheap prices so I went to check it out. An old wooden box caught my attention. The film was pretty damaged so I just kept it on my bookshelf as decoration, but I couldn't get the images of the pictures out of my head. With help from Dario, we got an old 8mm projector in good working condition on Ebay. I asked my friend to help me make this website so I can share my findings. While we've looked a lot at "taboo avoidance characters", used to mask individual letters in taboo words, we've touched much less often on "cursing characters" (as Ben Zimmer referred to them here; a bit later he referred to them as "obscenicons"), those "cartoon-style swear squiggles" used individually or in clusters -- What the #$*!
