Service Design Research This list represents a summary of the past thirty years of service design literature. The citations were compiled from the Emergence conference at Carnegie Mellon University as well as the Designing for Services project in the UK, service design syllabi at CMU and individual research. I've excerpted the abstracts and introductions to the papers and cross-referenced examples and concepts so that it's easy to follow the development of ideas such as "service blueprinting" across multiple papers. The City in the Crosshairs: A Conversation with Stephen Graham (Pt. 1) [Bryan Finoki] To begin, I am wondering how you conceptualize the Global City and its military role in expanding global capital. I am also interested in the opposite notion, of how cities can be inherently resistant to imperialism rather than acting as mere pistons for the expansion of capitalist development. [Stephen Graham] Global cities, as the key nodes in the transnational architectures of neoliberal capitalism, are vitally important militarily. They organize the financialization and production of space (London, for example, basically controls the financial architectures of large swathes of Africa and the Middle East). They orchestrate the extending dominance of neoliberalism. They serve as key hubs in the lacing of the world through transnational control, transport and logistics infrastructures. [Bryan Finoki] And, of course, with a network of global cities comes a corresponding expansion of militarism. [Stephen Graham] I think so. All of this is fairly obvious.

Y participaient déjà les futurs créateurs de UserStudio, Yoan Ollivier, ou encore Christophe Tallec… des professionnels qui commencent à compter aujourd’hui dans ce petit monde du design de services français. A l’époque, nous voyions dans ces pratiques travaillant sur la tangibilisation et l’amélioration des processus et sur la rencontre avec l’utilisateur une belle opportunité pour améliorer nos modes de vie, dans un monde de services toujours plus complexes et inhabitables. Public Home - Private City Dutch graphic artist Urlie Verduyn Lunel has done a wonderful project about the vanishing distinctions between private and public life. People are increasingly giving away their privacy by displaying their more intimate sides on the internet or having loud personal phone conversations on public transport. They are starting to feel at home in other places than just their homes. To illustrate this, Urlie has reversed this in an interesting and funny way.
