Aaron Koblin's Data Art Perhaps best known for his work on Radiohead’s 'House of Cards' video, his mesmerising 'Flight Paths' data visualisation and entirely crowd-sourced “Sheep Market”, Aaron Koblin has been an inspiration to anyone who believes in the beauty lurking within numbers. His work is included within the permanent collections of both MoMA and the Centre Pompidou, and has appeared at TED, OFFF and Ars Electonica – which alone reaffirm how fully he crosses the bridge between accessible art and bleeding-edge science. His role as Creative Director of Data Arts at the Google Creative Lab doesn’t hurt either. Dazed Live welcomed Koblin took take the lectern at St. Leonard’s Church in Shoreditch to kick of the inspirational series of headline speakers (alongside Alejandro Jodorowsky and Daniel Pinchbeck). Dazed Digital: How did you get into your particular field? DD: But there wasn’t a deciding moment where you realised you’d found it? DD: Can you give a brief synopsis of a project you’ve been working on?
PROJET611 RANDOM POLAND - sept10 Pictures by Lola Ector and Daphné Praud La cuisine de Feuillettes Some Stuff You Should Know About agnès b. Even if you don’t care about fashion, you have to take your hat off to agnès b. Gasper Noe and Harmony Korine both have art-obsessed 70-year-old agnès b. to thank for funding some of their films. The b. actually stands for Bourgeois—a name she picked up from a former husband—which is kind of ironic, as she likes to align herself with the more radical filmmakers, artists and France’s near revolution in 1968. Very well, thanks. You know what, the last interview I did I got asked about the first time I had sex. I can’t lie. I hated it, as a matter of a fact. Yeah [ ]. Well, it was our day house. Because it didn’t look like anything else. I didn’t really see it. In France as much as possible, but it’s a lot more expensive. Yes, so our customers don’t have to pay for the adverts. De Jeunes Gens Modernes : Dash Snow, Harmony Korine, Ryan McGinley + agnès b. It was never about that for me as I’ve been showing art for years, and a lot of the artists I follow are friends. Yes, that’s how I live.
