Monsanto, Dow, Bayer, and five other major biotechnology companies and associations have collectively released the Biotechnology Basics Activity Book, a colorful guide designed to reeducate children into the false dogma of biotechnology. The 16-page guide -- which includes word scrambles, fill-in-the-blank puzzles, and matching games -- contains an introductory paragraph that claims biotechnology boosts crop yields, improves environmental conditions, and leads to more nutritious food. "This is an activity book for young people like you about biotechnology -- a really neat topic," says the first page of the book. You can view the entire activity book for yourself at:
Must Have Mobile App: Be GMO in The Know Do you know what’s in your food? It is estimated that 70% of all grocery items in the United States contain genetically modified organisms, or GMOs. Despite countless warnings from scientists and doctors, these foods are not regulated at all by the government, and therefore it has been next to impossible for the average consumer to know exactly what he or she’s been eating. Not anymore. The True Food Shoppers Guide allows you to search by food category, brand name or food type to illuminate which companies are GMO-free (listed in green) and GMO-junkies (listed in red). Along with the search features, the application provides a good deal of information on the basics of GMOs; for example, it identifies the most commonly modified ingredients (corn, soy, canola and cotton). Even better, the True Food Shoppers Guide provides a call to action for those concerned about America’s food supply. image: MJTR
leaky gut snydrome: causes, symptoms, link to allergies, and treatment. About Leaky Gut Syndrome Learn about leaky gut syndrome and intestinal permeability. Understand the symptoms, causes, and treatments available for those who suffer from this debilitating ailment. When partially digested food, toxins, and bacteria pass through the small intestine and enter the bloodstream, this is referred to as a condition known as leaky gut syndrome, or LGS. In simple terms, large spaces occur in between the cells that compose the wall of the gut. Since these spaces exist in the gut wall, bacteria, toxins, and food can find their way into the bloodstream. When the gut wall or intestinal lining is damaged due to leaky gut syndrome, damaged cells called microvilli become unable to do their job properly. Well now, what harm is a bit of inflammation and some allergic reactions? What Causes Leaky Gut Syndrome? Some experts contend that the most common cause of this condition is ingesting foods that one is allergic to. • Diets that consist of refined sugar • Parasitic infections

Immune Boosting Herbs in Finger Gelatin If you’re like me and have been reading about anti-viral and antibacterial herbs, and looking for more ways to get them into to your kids, you may want to give this recipe a try – or make your own variation. I made jello flut shots by infusing immune boosting herbs in finger gelatin made with fruit juice. Call them what you like, and enjoy some extra anti-oxidants and cold and flu fighting herbs. Which Herbs Boost the Immune System? There are many herbs that boost the immune system, although not all of them are “jello-friendly”. For ease of use, I grabbed some cinnamon sticks and dried ginger root, some mint leaves and echinacea tea. (source) French Science Academies Slam Seralini Study Finding GMO Cancer Threat [Updated, Nov. 28, 8:45 p.m. | The Seralini study has been retracted. Read the letter from the journal editor.] An intensively promoted and controversial French study claiming to find high tumor rates and early mortality in rats fed genetically modified corn and “safe” levels of the herbicide Roundup has been dismissed in a rare joint statement from France’s six scientific academies. Here’s a link to the statement (in French). [*Here's an English translation.] Here’s an excerpt from coverage of the academies’ statement by Agence France-Presse: “This work does not enable any reliable conclusion to be drawn,” they said, adding bluntly that the affair helped “spread fear among the public.” The academies’ statement is just the latest rejection of the conclusions by the paper’s authors, led by Gilles-Eric Séralini, a scientist at the University of Caen who has long campaigned against genetically modified foods and attracted criticism for flawed science. Agriculture Society » 11 Reasons Why You Aren’t Healing Despite “Eating Well” So you’ve transitioned away from processed foods and started eating healthier. That’s great! You’re becoming more mindful of organic – maybe you’re buying more fruits and vegetables, and maybe even meat, poultry, and dairy products from sustainable sources. Or, maybe you’ve made an effort to eliminate toxic vegetable oils and other artificial fats like margarine, shortening, or fake butter spreads. You thought you were making some headway, but you’re not seeing as many improvements as you’d like. How could this be? Don’t despair, there may simply be some very basic things you are missing. 1. Just because the package says “organic” or “natural” doesn’t mean it’s not highly processed and full of non-food and toxic substances. Real foods made at home from scratch are what will help your body to heal and improve, but these highly processed foods, labeled organic or not, are just like conventional, processed foods and aren’t much better. 2.
