Quid de la responsabilité des agrégateurs de flux RSS? - Droit & Dans une ordonnance de référé du 28 février 2008[1], le tribunal de grande instance de Nanterre a condamné Mr D. en qualité d’éditeur d’un site agrégeant des flux RSS. Les faits sont en substance les suivants : Le réalisateur Olivier DAHAN faisait grief au titulaire du site www.lespipoles.com d’avoir intégré sur son site un lien, sous forme d’un fil RSS, pointant vers le site www.gala.fr et intitulé « Sharon Stone et Olivier Dahan La Star roucoulerait avec le réalisateur de la Môme » portant atteinte à l’intimité de sa vie privée. En défense, Mr D. indiquait que son site se bornait à agréger des sources d’information disponibles sur internet diffusées par des éditeurs de contenus sous forme de flux RSS. Dans son ordonnance du 28 février 2008 le tribunal rejette l’argumentation du défendeur et constate le site lespipoles.com agençait différents flux RSS dans des cadres préétablis (news, vidéos…) ayant tous pour objet l’actualité des célébrités. Second Life objects to become HTTP-aware - Massively While Second Life users wait with 'bated breath for the SLS 1.27 deployment that will sort out a large number of crippling group communications failures, there's an extra bonus lurking in the code. SLS1.27 will be adding an HTTP-in feature which will allow HTTP requests to be sent to Second Life objects. At present, Second Life objects can only 'dial out' to external Web-servers and services, but with few practical methods of communicating that external data and resources have changed, many object creators have had to settle for frequent polling of Web-services for data. The HTTP-in method, will allow external services to push data to in-world objects and receive simple responses, saving significant quantities of bandwidth and server resources. Documentation for the new communications subsystem is available, and the feature can already be trialled live on Aditi, the beta/preview grid.

putting the "new" in "new media literacies": a helpful visual aid Here's a Prezi project I've been working on to visualize some key features of what Kress, Lankshear & Knobel, Scribner & Cole, and others find salient in emerging new media literacy practices. This visualization emphasizes Lankshear & Knobel's characterization of two distinct approaches to the "new" in "new media literacy." As they explain, the use of 'new' in the paradigmatic sense is a sociocultural approach to literacy practices: the New Literacy Studies comprise a new paradigm for looking at literacy as opposed to the paradigm that already existed that was based on psychology. The use of 'new' here parallels that which is involved in names for initiatives or movements such as the New School of Social Research, the New Science, the New Criticism (and New Critics) and so on. Okay, that's the paradigmatic sense of 'new.' Gunther Kress, in "Literacy and Multimodality," emphasizes design, perhaps above all else. Design does not ask, 'what was done before, how, for whom, with what?'
Xfruits sort une nouvelle brique de transformation RSS to My Blo Publié le 29 juin 2007 | par Jean-François Ruiz Xfruits le service de transformation de flux RSS vient de déployer une nouvelle brique tout à fait intéressante. Il s´agit de la brique " RSS to My Blog ". Elle permet de mettre en entrée un flux RSS et en sortie l´API de publication d´un blog. La liste du nombre de blog supporté est importante et devrait satisfaire la majorité des blogueurs. On peut donc imaginer publier sur son blog par email avec la combinaison de cette brique et de la brique Email to RSS. Xfruits fait son petit bout de chemin et devient une vraie plateforme de mixage des flux RSS avec des briques très innovantes comme " Vocal Fruits " qui permet de transformer vos flux RSS en podcast audio (vocalisation des textes réalisée en partenariat avec la technologie ReadSpeaker).
