Top 10: Shelves And Shelving
I recall an infomercial a few years back for a little plastic triangle that stuck in a corner, between two walls, to make a small corner shelf. I don’t remember the exact name of the product, but I do remember that the commercial exhausted all the obvious self/shelf puns: “shelf esteem,” “shelf confidence,” “shelf defense,” “shelf-employed,” etc., etc. So I’ll forgo the obvious opportunities this topic offers for shelf-referential humor and just get down to business. Space Saving ‘Tulip’ Shower Blooms into a Luxury Bathtub Some apartment bathrooms are just not big enough to fit a full- or even half-size tub, unless one considers the extra space already required for standing and walking. This clever flip-down solution makes room for lying down in the bath, but retracts when not in use. The (Tulip) name was derived by Piotr Pyrtek from the way in which the unit seems to blossom open, as well as the tulip’s versatility in the world of plants. When upright, the enclosure prevents splashing and contains steam for showering. Luxuries are not lost despite the small footprint of this pod within the larger layout – high-powered massagers, underwater jets and other digitally-controlled bathing bonuses are all part of the experience.

Creative Kismet » Blog Archive » little guiding stars Since the new year has started I’ve been trying to think of ways to be more kind to my self. Especially when that nasty gremlins try to creep in and stump me. I remembered this origami star video on You Tube and had to get them involved in my plan. I thought it would be fun to make a whole bunch with kind words and “you are….” phrases inside. I made 60 of them, enough to last me the whole year if I open one a week, plus a few extra just in case. I used 12 x 12 inch scrapbook paper and cut 1/2 x 12″ strips, then followed the video HERE*. *UPDATE! Be Sociable, Share!

RFID Chips – A nice and easy way to start out with body hacking is to implant an RFID chip into you. An RFID chip is just a passive antenna that’s pre-configured to transmit a specific code when it’s brought near an RFID reader. Generally, RFID is used as a key of sorts; so for example, you can set up your computer or your phone to unlock only when you pick them up. Or install an RFID-enabled deadbolt on your front door and an RFID reader in your car and you won’t need to carry your keys around anymore. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Source

Lovely Spaces - Craft room | How Joyful Hello my lovely readers! This past weekend was so crazy! We lost our power Thursday night – I’m so glad I schedule my draft post – The bad part I spend days without power in our house, when you work in your computer that’s kind of a vital ingredient hehe. This past storm was pretty big and brought a lot of snow and that caused a lot of trees fall down =[ It was my first time in a storm like this and it was pretty surprising to see a lot of street closed, cars stuck and not being able to cook or have heater (the bad part about having electric stove!) So now that you are all updated in my weekend, I want to share some of my favorite Craft room/Office images, all of them collected via Pinterest! [source] [source] Don’t you just love the closet desk idea? [source] [source] [source] I also love the contrast and pops of color And I could not stop myself from sharing my latest obsession and next Project, an awesome Studio table =] here my inspiration [source] [source] [source] [source] [source] [source]

10 Scrap Refabs: Vintage Reupholstery with Colorful Fabric Forget fabric stores – some antiques are just too boring to bother re-covering with traditional patterns. These hodgepodge pieces use patchwork scraps to create fresh new themes within stodgy old frameworks. (Re)fabric(ation) can be fun. Design by Leftovers takes old and often overly-ornate furnishings that would hardly fit in a modern home, and remakes them to look creative, contemporary and strangely more timeless. If you are at a loss for how to reupholster some household items, look no further for inspiration. While there seems to be much mixing going on, there is a clear set of methods within the madness – each found piece of fabric is stitched into a new whole in a way that is clearly conscious of what appears around it in terms of colors and patterns. Each of this series has a core zone of tonal focus – cool purples and relaxing blues to bright reds, bizarre pinks and earth browns.

DIY Thread LED Tealight Cover I was messing around with different materials trying to dress up a little LED tealight, and this is one of the versions I ended up liking (plus it’s dirt cheap since it’s just thread!). I love me some textures. This may be useful for those with wedding venues that don’t allow real flames. Finding these* at the dollar store is what started this mess… 1) Get your hands on some thin cardboard that you’ll be recycling anyway. I used the back of a pasta box. 2) Find some wrapping plastic (try to use something you’ll toss anyway!) 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 13. You can make different sizes and shapes. … and configure it however you want! * Batteries were included, and they lasted for many hours. Happy crafting! Porch Furniture | Atticmag | Kitchens, Bathrooms, Interior Design When we first moved into our new home, I was excited to finally have a screened porch. The first few weeks I spent several hours sleeping outside each night – on a new dog bed. Believe it or not, it was comfortable, and every time I saw a swinging porch bed I promise myself “one day, one day.” This architectural version is made from old porch railings and is the most popular design available from a favorite local home store. This clean line Spanish cedar swinging bed was created by Austin husband and wife team Mark and Christina Landers. My husband and I love doing things together for our home, so it’s always nice to see what other marital teams are up to. There is so much talent available, locally or via the internet, that having a custom swinging porch bed made is fairly simple. Read about my “one day” finally arriving in Swinging Porch Beds 2.
