Les casques mis sur le marché après cette date doivent à minima porter le marquage « CE », preuve qu'ils ont été certifiés par un organisme de contrôle autorisé. La norme « CE EN 1384 » a été révisée en 2017 mais n'est pas entrée en vigueur . Attention, le marquage CE peut néanmoins être donné sur la base de la norme EN 1384: 2017, le casque est dans ce cas utilisable en compétition et pour toutes les activités équestres. Pour une protection optimale, il est recommandé de respecter la date d'expiration inscrite sur la notice du casque, et lorsqu'aucune date n'est précisée, de changer régulièrement de casque en fonction de la fréquence d'utilisation. En cas de choc, le casque doit impérativement être remplacé.
