It wasn't for speeding. Moore said Deputy James Westbrook wanted his helmet camera. "[I was pulled over for] other people's activities," Moore said. The video from Moore's helmet camera seems to support the claims in this exchange recorded on Memorial Day weekend: MOORE: "Was I doing something wrong? WESTBROOK: "The whole group of you guys." MOORE: "No. WESTBROOK: "The reason you're being pulled over is because I'm gonna take your camera, and we're gonna use it as evidence of... in the crimes that have been committed by other bikers." MOORE: "I have not committed any crimes and you cannot take my personal property from me, sir." WESTBROOK: "That's fine. But after a few minutes inside his squad car, Deputy Westbrook returns with what appears to be a new concern -- an obstructed license plate on Moore's bike. MOORE: "Are you kidding me, dude?"
What Paper Means In Prison A phone embedded in the short story "Lonely Heart," in what seems to be a copy of "Guys & Dolls: The Stories of Damon Runyon." Produced in partnership with Storyboard. Blue ripped up most kites and flushed the pieces, but some, especially those received in the exercise yard, he ate. Blue, who is 20 years old, knew that even temporary possession of written notes was against the rules, but he shrugged it off as a necessary risk. Blue did keep one lengthy kite “from my old bunkie because it’s a cool window into my prison life.” “Bro, I’m missing both my buckets, my detergent, my deodorant, my Muslim oils, my towel, my mirror,” wrote Ziggy. At this prison, like many others, communication between prisoners is forbidden in many areas, including between cells. American law assures its incarcerated with few basic tangibles: shelter, bedding, clothing, food, hygiene supplies, lined paper, envelopes and stamps. And so an environment of oppression becomes the mother of invention.
Coolest Google Docs Demo Ever. Google Docs is one of those things that we tend to use daily but don’t get the full experience. I know that I personally don’t use all of its capabilities, especially when it comes to collaboration. I end up using it like a flat Word document. Google has pushed out a pretty cool demo, which invites you to collaborate with some of the greatest writers of all time. A “famous writer” will start typing and then it’s your turn. Once you’ve finished your collaborative masterpiece, you can then share it with whomever you like. Ex-Googlers Launch Avocado, An App For Couples Backed By Baseline, General Catalyst, And Lightspeed There’s a growing market for mobile apps designed to help couples stay closer. The phenomenon first came to my attention with the launch of Pair at Y Combinator’s most recent demo day. But since then, I’ve seen a whole bunch of new apps popping up, all seeking to offer up a tight little social network for two. The latest such app to launch is Avocado, which was created by a couple of former Googlers looking for a way to get closer and better organize their life together. Avocado, available on the iPhone and Android mobile devices for $1.99, was created by ex-Google employees Chris Wetherell and Jenna Bilotta, who first met while working on Google Reader during their 20 percent time at the search giant. It allows couples to create to-do lists and cross items off, upload pictures to share with one another, and send private messages to each other. The app is named as such because avocado trees, Wetherell tells me, only bear fruit when they grow near each other.
Apartment Search Engine PadMapper Gets A Cease-And-Desist From Craigslist, Removes Listings Update: PadMapper found a workaround to include Craigslist postings again. It’s been years since I’ve had to look for an apartment, but in that time multiple friends have sung the praises of PadMapper (TechCrunch alumnus Greg Kumparak is a fan too). Usually, they describe it as a mashup of Google Maps and Craigslist. According to an account that creator Eric DeMenthon published on the PadMapper blog, and that he elaborated on over email, Craigslist’s lawyer sent him a cease-and-desist letter earlier this week, demanding that PadMapper take down any postings from Craigslist. “When I told him that the website was the most important part of PadMapper, and that many millions of people depend on PadMapper to find places, the lawyer said flatly that they don’t license to websites,” DeMenthon says. As a result, DeMenthon is in the process of removing Craigslist postings from the PadMapper site. I’ve contacted Craigslist for comment and will update this post if I hear back.
Meged and Ovcharov Valentina Meged and Anatoliy Ovcharov are socionists from Kiev, Ukraine and a married couple (IEE and SLI, respectively). They are known in the English socionics community for their subtype descriptions. Their views used to be quite mainstream, but since the mid-90s their typing paradigm has shifted dramatically, perhaps as a result of their close collaboration with Viktor Gulenko, whose views changed at this time also. , and thus most actors are EIEs, has been strongly criticized by other socionists. Portrait of a Modern Socionist Portrait of a Modern Socionist was a study undertaken by Dmitriy Lytov among Russian speaking socionists and enthusiasts in February-March 2007 and published in May. 49 people (24 men and 25 women, average age 31 years) took part by filling out a rather long questionnaire. All but 3 resided in Russia or Ukraine. Summary and discussion of results at www.Socioniko.net (machine translation) Most of the findings (the most informative) have been included in this section. 63% had known about socionics for at least 3 years (11 people had known about it for 3-5 years, 9 from 5 to 10 years, and 11 for more than 10 years). 59% learned about socionics by studying books and Internet articles on their own. Nearly a quarter had studied with well-known socionists. 30% of respondents teach or write about socionics. Participants were asked to express their opinions on various questions using a 5-point scale, where 5 meant complete trust and 1 meant a complete lack of trust. Reliability of typing methods:
