The update went live in the Mac App Store this morning at 8:30 am ET/5:30 am PT. It is free to existing users and remains a $299.99 download for new users. Apple's reimagining of multicam features automatic sync and can handle up to 64 different camera angles of varying formats, resolutions and frame rates at once. Other new features in 10.0.3, which follows a small bug fix last November, include a chroma keyer with advanced controls, the ability to manually relink projects and events to new media, and support for layered Photoshop files. One such App, a $9.99 XML translator from Intelligent Assistance called 7toX, will be a godsend to editors with existing FCP7 projects. New Chroma Keyer and Multicam Editing

Inerxia | Before & After Effects vfxblog VIDEO COPILOT | After Effects Tutorials, Plug-ins and Stock Footage for Post Production Professionals When Fast & Furious star Paul Walker passed recently, the film sequel was put on hold. Now that producers are moving forward, and the question is how should they finish a film that is already more than half-way done filming? There has been talk of rewriting, re-editing or even using stand-ins to film the remaining scenes. But one suggestion has stirred a lot of controversy: Use a CGI Paul Walker! BUT… I personally think they SHOULD use CGI Paul Walker. His Real Performances! Typically, I’m against bringing back actors but the movie was already at least half-way done filming before Paul Walker passed. Now since movies are typically filmed out-of-order, it’s possible these finished scenes are missing important connecting moments that are needed to tell the story and maintain continuity. So producers have to choose: 1. END RESULT: No Real Paul & No CGI Paul. 2. END RESULT: Real Paul with Some CGI Paul. Whether you are a fan of the movies or not, they were always fun and well made.
Cinema 4D And After Effects Training, Tutorials, and Plugins for Motion Graphic Designers Congratulations to Michael Rinnan for winning the Five Second Project for March. His entry had a great concept and was outfitted with excellent lighting, atmosphere, camera movements and sound design. We wanted to know a little bit more about Michael’s entry, so we asked him a few questions regarding his workflow and the process for creating his winning piece. Where do you work? I am a 3D generalist at NFL films in Mt. How did you come up with your concept for the Bright Lights Five Second Project? For my concept, my goal was to come up with a quick story I could tell in 5 seconds. What was the most challenging thing about your project? The most challenging part of this project was honestly the lighting. Tell us a little about how you achieved the zolly (push-pull zoom) effect. To achieve the zolly, I initially mapped out the motion of the motorcycles with a spline and then dropped a camera onto that motion path. What renderer was used? How long did your piece take to make?
