Veel discussies tussen gelovigen en logische denkers op dit blog en elders maken dit op soms pijnlijke wijze duidelijk. Het is niet moeilijk hieruit de conclusie te trekken dat in de meeste gevallen mensen die geloven niet dezelfde mensen zijn als de mensen die prefereren logisch te redeneren. Het valt mij op dat de logisch redenerenden vaak de meer eloquente en diepere denkers zijn, vanzelfsprekend uitzonderingen daargelaten. Dit lijkt op het eerste gezicht misschien direct verband te houden met het intellect maar dat is mijns inziens misleidend, ik denk dat het eerder te maken heeft met de ontwikkeling van het intellect: logisch redeneren vraagt om onderbouwing van argumenten, het inschatten van oorzaak en logisch gevolg en een kritische blik op andermans en eigen denkbeelden; geloven vraagt in principe niet om diep nadenken: er wordt een onbewijsbare situatie geschetst die je maar dient aan te nemen voor waar.
