That's the building. A short history of the chateau for those interested. Selon une tradition confirmée par un document ancien, la construction du château remonterait à l'époque de Pierre de Savoie, mort en 1268.
Elle se serait achevée sous l'un de ses successeurs, les Villars. Dès 1300, le terme de "castellum" ou bourg fortifié apparaît dans les documents de l'époque. Le château avec son donjon dominait les maisons groupées près du lac. Une dérivation de la rivière Versoix, qui prend sa source dans le Jura et se jette dans le lac Léman à Versoix, le Greny, alimentait les fossés qui entouraient les bâtiments et faisait tourner les roues d'un moulin dans le parc. Après les Villars, Humbert d'Allamand, puis Othon de Grandson le poète chevalier, habitèrent Coppet. Au cours des luttes qui opposèrent les Vaudois aux Bernois, ceux-ci s'emparèrent du château et l'incendièrent en partie. Ce sont eux, puis leur successeurs, les Hogguer, qui ont donné au château son aspect actuel, entre les années 1680 et 1730 environ.
