Vintage book travel-tech organizer. As you may have figured out from my My Life Scoop posts, I’m a bit of a nut for tech accessories, especially pocket-sized ones. I can’t get over how awesomely small our entertainment devices are becoming; it makes traveling with them so much easier. But one issue I keep running into is how to neatly organize everything, especially the power cords and connector cables that accompany my favorite devices. Rather than spend another plane trip rummaging through my catch-all carry-on bag searching for my headphones, bumping my head on the seat in front of me every time, I decided to make a small tech-accessory organizer using elastic ribbon and an old vintage book cover.

This project can be sized up or down and customized in many different ways — the best approach is to gather all the tiny tech things you travel with and see how much there is. After that, it’s just a bit of snipping, sewing and gluing, and you’re on your way to a clean, organized carry-on. Enjoy! Materials Instructions 1. 2. Sewingin-nomansland.blogspot. A couple of months ago, while visiting New York, we met the lovely Gretchen Jones and were fortunate enough to spend an entire day crafting in her über charming Brooklyn apartment. Not only is she amazingly talented and fascinatingly storied, Gretchen is one of the most humorous and genuine people we’ve gotten to know.

After raiding a local hardware store for supplies and hardware, we spread out over her workspace, and whipped up several pieces of jewelry while sharing anecdotes. One of our favorite pieces was a necklace inspired by the honeycomb Universe necklace from Gretchen’s collection. With some brass rings, neon cording and a clever trick courtesy of Ms. You’ll need: Start by laying out a pattern. Line up two brass rings. Pull tightly and tie into a double knot. Now for the crafty trick – take a lighter and burn the tips of the knot until the nylon starts to melt. The first section is complete. Continue to add more rings, wrapping each connecting section . . . DIY: Tie Dye Denim | State of Unique.

This DIY kick starts my tie dye week (another version to come) and just might be my most favorite DIY yet!! As I was perusing the latest Elle magazine, I saw an ad for Paige denim. It was for a beautiful pair of tri-colored tie dye jeans (Paige Toulouse Verdugo Skinny). I have been on a color obsession lately and had to have my hands on these. The price was a little out of reach for me, so I thought I would take a stab at it myself. The steps were pretty simple. - white skinny denim (I bought an inexpensive pair from Target here ) - RIT dye (denim blue, wine bordo, and petal pink) - sponge brush 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. By Sheila Arkee So, you have a favorite eyeshadow, pressed powder, or blush you absolutely cannot live without. Life happens, and sometimes before you even realize it, you find yourself the owner of your favorite product, smashed into 5 million little pieces. When your powder cosmetics are broken into 5 million pieces, you can always put them in a small container and use as a loose shadow, but you DO have the option of fixing the products so it’s almost as good as new. It’s easy! I mean it! You’ll thank me! The only extra product you’ll need is Rubbing Alcohol that you can get from any old drugstore. Here is a lovely L’Oreal H.I.P. #319 eyeshadow that was sadly broken upon arrival. Step 1: Dump the shadow into a small bowl. Step 2: Use the back of a brush to crush the shadow into a fine powder.

Step 3: I used the cap to my rubbing alcohol as a measurement and poured it into the container with the shadow. My assistant insisted on helping out. Step 7: All set! Christian Louboutin Inspired DIY Glitter Pumps :: Groom Sold Separately :: Ultimate Wedding Planning Resource Connecting Brides and Wedding Pros. We love pumps (So sexy!). We love sparkly things (Ooh shiny!). So it shouldn’t be a surprise that we would love sparkly pumps! Glitter pumps are all the rage right now in the fashion world and we couldn’t be happier. We’ve been drooling over these gold glitter Christian Louboutin pumps for a while now… But unfortunately they aren’t in our budget- Nor will they ever be in our budget for that matter! You’ll Need: - Extra Fine Glitter - Mod-Podge (I used Gloss-Lustre) - Pair of Shoes – Sand Paper (or a nail file) - Bowl - Paintbrush (I didn’t use the paintbrush above, it was too big) - And something to cover your work surface (I used tinfoil) You should probably sand the shoes just to make sure that the glitter and glue can adhere to the shoes as best as it can.

Next I sorted through the glitter I bought to decide which colors I wanted to use. Just mix the glitter together in whatever combination you’d like. Once you’ve mixed in the Mod-Podge just start brushing it on the shoes. And VOILA! 10 T-Shirt Scarf Tutorials. How to hem denim & keep the factory edge. Hey guys. So, some of you have asked how I hemmed my denim skirt by myself while keeping the factory-edge look. I've got bad news and good news for you. The good news: I'm not a great seamstress but it still wasn't hard! The bad news: I have nothing to hem right now, so for me to show you how I did it, you'll have to make do with the pics of the finished product. Basically, you can do this to any garment in which the original hemline is as wide as or wider than the new hemline.

First, figure out how long/short you want the denim garment. Then pin the cut-off factory hem to the cut-off garment, right sides together and cut edges together. In the case of my skirt, because it originally was a slight A-line, the factory-hem piece was longer (horizontally) than the new hemline. [Editor's note: You guys, I just realized, I'm terrible at explaining things. So. Wah-lah. If you're not convinced, check out how this skirt looks in "real life. " Happy Wednesday!
