Django Tutorial: a Todo List App Part II - Django by Example

Most of the code we’ll deal with is not specific to Django. My intent is to give a few examples of using asynchronous communication with the Django server to make the interface a little more appealing. If you are not familiar with Javascript, the following code may appear complicated and intimidating; if you don’t need AJAX functionality, feel free to skip this part completely and go on to other tutorials — nothing here will be essential to this App’s operation. Laissez-faire learning

What does “laissez-faire” mean? From the French, it literally means, “let do,” or by implication, let it be. Leave it alone. In the fall of 2005, I officially began my homeschool career. Building a Community Site with Django in 40 Hours or Less

I, like many developers, struggle with building and releasing personal sites. Ask a web developer and they’re likely to tell you about a couple of sites they started and never finished. Time is always an issue, but the bigger problems are striving for perfection prior to launch and always holding out for that one “killer” feature. As such there will be a limited number of entries in each category. The first criteria in selecting texts is that preference will be given to those that are truly free - as in free to copy, free to modify, free to distribute, free to sell. Torrents are great, they are the best way to share large files with your friends, or even with people you don't know at all.

How to create a torrent?

But surprisingly enough, not many people create torrents when they need to share something. I have "a lot of" friends who know how to download torrents, but when they need to send me their latest 200MB vacation picture collection, they ask me to "get on msn". It’s not that I have anything against msn (although the file transfer sucks), but why don’t just use BitTorrent? Especially if you want to send something to more than one person, or if you want to share high quality HDTV files, because then you can share the bandwidth. So how do you do this? Is the Relational Database Doomed? Recently, a lot of new non-relational databases have cropped up both inside and outside the cloud.

Is the Relational Database Doomed?

One key message this sends is, "if you want vast, on-demand scalability, you need a non-relational database". If that is true, then is this a sign that the once mighty relational database finally has a chink in its armor? Is this a sign that relational databases have had their day and will decline over time? In this post, we'll look at the current trend of moving away from relational databases in certain situations and what this means for the future of the relational database.
