Before millions of players and billions in revenue, before esports tournaments drew more than 100 million viewers, League of Legends was just an idea. Now it's one of the world’s most popular video games, and a major cultural phenomenon.
It's also one of the most challenging to learn and master, as it requires a high-end gaming computer capable of running it without lag at 60fps. In this course, you'll get a deeper understanding of the mechanics, roles, meta, and champions in League of Legends. You'll learn how to improve your gameplay through weekly homework assignments, and explore the broader implications of League in culture and society.
In this class, you'll be introduced to the fundamentals of the game, from the Summoner Spells that summon monsters to the Items that massively boost your champion's power. You'll also learn about the three phases of a League match: early, mid, and late game. This chapter will help you understand how to use your champions to achieve primary objectives (destroying turrets, inhibitors, and enemy base) and how secondary objectives—such as killing monsters for experience or loot—can be crucial to winning a game.
Using a crowdsourced survey of more than 18,000 League of Legends players, Kahn and colleagues have developed a typology for the motivational regulation of League of Legends players. They find that, on average, League of Legends players have a combination of socialization, completionist, and competitiveness motives that regulate their behavior in the game.롤대리
