Project for the New American Century. The Project for the New American Century (PNAC) was an American think tank based in Washington, D.C. established in 1997 as a non-profit educational organization founded by William Kristol and Robert Kagan. The PNAC's stated goal is "to promote American global leadership. "[1] Fundamental to the PNAC were the view that "American leadership is both good for America and good for the world" and support for "a Reaganite policy of military strength and moral clarity.

History[edit] Statement of Principles[edit] PNAC's first public act was releasing a "Statement of Principles" on June 3, 1997, which was signed by both its members and a variety of other notable conservative politicians and journalists (see Signatories to Statement of Principles). For what they were... we are. Ancient mtDNA maps of Europe. Update (Jun 2012): As I have not been updating and there have been some very important new discoveries since I wrote this (notably confirmation of mtDNA H in Cantabria and the Basque Country), I strongly suggest to check the entries in the category ancient DNA. Update (Dec 2012): A recent update was made to the Late Upper Paleolithic and Epipaleolithic maps (see this entry), which are probably of interest here as well: Original page: These maps were actualized last on May 9th 2011.

I was as strict as possible on not over-interpreting the raw data, often only testing the HVS-I segment, what is clearly insufficient and sometimes only creates more confusion. As the tests performed in each study varied, an upstream lineage such as R* does not necessarily exclude a downstream one such as H, specially where no HVS-I markers are know to exist between the two nodes. This is a problem affecting specially the identification of H and its major subclades but may also affect other lineages. The Neolithic Transition. Www.mas.ncl.ac.uk/~nas13/AS/2006JAS_waterways.pdf. Examples of those trapped in the Liberal Paradigm. Ethnosociology - InterSciWiki. Ethnosociology is a term that has been used by Pierre Bourdieu[1], Anthony Giddens[2], and others as an [Anthropological] "approach to social dynamics over time, including cultural products which are the vectors of these dynamics and the meanings which the actors ascribed thereto. "[3] Ethnosociology can be defined more generally as the study of social dynamics over time, including cultural products and meanings, the social networks that transmit meanings, actions, resources, and impacts on the formation of groups, institutions, and social change, and many other aspects.

Clearly, the study of practice is important to this conception, and a strategic focus on disputation enables an enlarged conception of ethnosociology to include the approaches of the Manchester school of anthropology initiated by Max Gluckman. Pierre Bourdieu [1] is credited with forging "an engaged ethnosociology..., alive to the complexity of the real and resistant to theoretical simplification....

Celestial mechanics - Scholarpedia. Figure 1: Planetary motion according with Kepler laws. The speed of the planet is such that the area swept by the radius vector SP grows uniformly. The speed of the planet is larger when it is closer to the Sun. (Courtesy of EDUSP/USP) Celestial Mechanics is the science devoted to the study of the motion of the celestial bodies on the basis of the laws of gravitation. It was founded by Newton and it is the oldest of the chapters of Physical Astronomy. The pre-Newtonian Celestial Kinematics The story of the mathematical representation of celestial motions starts in the antiquity and, notwithstanding the prevalent wrong ideas placing the Earth at the center of the universe, the prediction of the planetary motions were very accurate allowing, for instance, to forecast eclipses and to keep calendars synchronized with the motion of the Earth around the Sun.

The work of Kepler is a monument to the human genius. Figure 2: Kepler’s technique to determine the orbits of the Earth and Mars. Chaos. Circulation of elite. The Circulation of elite is a theory of regime change described by Italian social scientist Vilfredo Pareto (1848–1923). Changes of regime, revolutions, and so on occur not when rulers are overthrown from below, but when one elite replaces another. The role of ordinary people in such transformation is not that of initiators or principal actors, but as followers and supporters of one elite or another. Assumptions[edit] It is a basic axiom for Pareto that people are unequal physically, as well as intellectually and morally.

In society as a whole, and in any of its particular strata and groupings, some people are more gifted than others. The term elite has no moral or honorific connotations in Pareto's usage. Ambiguity[edit] There is a basic ambiguity in Pareto's treatment of the notion of the elite. It would seem that Pareto believed that only in perfectly open societies, those with perfect social mobility, would elite position correlate fully with superior capacity. Social mobility[edit] Structural violence | Structural Violence. Structural violence refers to systematic ways in which social structures harm or otherwise disadvantage individuals.

Structural violence is subtle, often invisible, and often has no one specific person who can (or will) be held responsible (in contrast to behavioral violence). I also hold that behavioral violence and structural violence can intertwine — some of the easiest examples of structural violence involve police, military, or other state powers committing violent acts; of course one can blame the individual soldier, but the factors that lead to a soldier killing a civilian are far more complex than that explanation would imply. Let me quote Dr. Paul Farmer, Lots of good material has been written directly and indirectly on structural violence, most notably (in my opinion) by Dr. Farmer. One key aspect of structural violence is that it is often hard to see. Whether those patients die at that moment, damage has been done. Alexandr Dugin. Lecture at Johns Hopkins University | | ЕВРАZИЯ. TV | ”Financism”, the Supreme Stage of Development of Capitalism | The Fourth Political Theory.

1. In which sistem of coordinates to examine the phenomenon of "financism" Does financial capitalism represent just a random variant of the common essence of the development of the capitalist system ? Or is it rather the definitive incarnation of its whole logic, its triumph ? The answer to this question can not be found within the classics of economic theory, their horizon being limited to the industrial phase of development - the general trend and the full economic significance of which they (and above all the Marxists) did investigate completely and correctly. Post-industrial society is still in many ways an obscure reality. And yet, even here, at the zero-stage of formulating the problem, we come across an element of uncertainty undermining the frame of the analyisis. 2. The events of the last decade have shown a clear-cut success of the historical trend of Liberal economics.

From all these aspects, the Liberal model successfully defeated the Marxist threat. 3. 4. 5. 6. Greece and Great Britain in the 1930s and 1940s A Couple of Revealing Documents | The Fourth Political Theory. A Couple of Revealing Documents On October 28, 1940, Italy attacked Greece. We know now that Italian invasion was due not to Mussolini’s initiative but to Ciano’s one.

For the latter was in contact with the British; and the British wished Greece to be involved into the Second WW in order to establish air bases on Greek territory and bombard the oil fields in Ploieşti, Romania. Iōannēs Metaxas was by then Greece’s Prime Minister. He was a brilliant Engineers officer and a noted pro-German as well. On August 4, 1936, he managed to have an authoritarian system imposed on Greece – under his own leadership. If truth be told, Italians were right to attack Greece. Yet Metaxas regarded the Italian-Greek conflict as a “separate” one. Still late in December 1940, Lord Halifax was replaced at the Foreign Office by Anthony Eden. [Signature:] M[etaxas] The British control over the foreign policy of Greece in general and of the Greek Navy in particular is an old story. Aide-Mémoire [2] Most Secret A. B. The flourishing diversity of Eurasia: our political goal | The Fourth Political Theory.

I will allow myself to express my opinion about the future, the strategies and values - the framework of values for the development of our country, the affects of global processes over our nation, our identity and how we would like to see the world in the twenty-first century, and what can our country, Russia, bring to this world together with our partners. Today, almost all the countries of the world - the Russian and European nations, the Chinese and American societies - are faced, in one form or another, with the need to find new strategies to preserve their identity in a radically changing world, a world that has become more open, transparent and interdependent.

The questions «who are we?» , «what do we want to be?» - are heard more and more loudly in our society. We have separated from Soviet ideology and it is not possible to return to it. Proponents of fundamental conservatism, idealizing pre-1917 Russia, are now as far from reality as supporters of Western ultra-liberalism.
