Last time I talked about the WHAT of Mug Rugs .... today I wanted to show you WHEN exactly a Mug Rug can be used in your house. To do that, I get to show off my fun little collection of Mug Rug's I've amassed and tell you where they live in my house - some of the ways I use them might surprise you!
I made myself this one. Katie Jump Rope is my very favorite fabric line and it makes me happy every time I look at it. It currently lives with my laptop, because I use it as a traveling mousepad for my wireless mouse. This cute puppy was made for me by John / Quilt Dad for a private Twitter Mug Rug swap. This awesome one was made for me by Brooke / April Two Eighty in the Spicing Up The Kitchen swap on Flickr. I also made myself this one. Brenda made me this one in a swap on Flickr. This one was made for me by Ryan / I'm Just a Guy Who Quilts also from a Twitter swap. Sue made me this one, again from a private swap set up on Twitter. Cathedral Windows - Part TWO!! Well now... if there is anything you can count on with kids... it's delays! LOL Luckily, this weekend I bribed them with a lot of new legos and video games to keep them busy while I finished some much needed sewing!
( and no, I'm not above bribing! ) LOL So... let's get this cathedral window block party started! Here's my stack of the nine folded blocks ( from part ONE ) needed to make the front of my pillow... ( for The Pillow Talk { Swap } ) This may be a silly tip, but... you should use thread that matches the base fabric ( as you'll see it )! I also took a quick shot of my machine settings incase you were interested in my stitch position or length... it's just centered and at a 3.0 in length.... very normal... no tricks! Okay... to the sewing! Then, carefully sew those two back to back triangles together following your ironed lines as a guide. Just keep adding your blocks together until you have 3 rows of 3 squares... Always... back stitching!! As you can see... Or.... XO, Heather. A Quilting Life.
