CORY MARKS: Sorry For Nothing Volume 2. When I first heard about a Canadian singer called Cory Marks who makes country music bearable by adding elements of rock and metal, I was admittedly dubious. The only time I have ever heard it done well enough to keep my attention was from a band called Rebel Meets Rebel, and even then, it was only the rhythm section from Pantera that sparked my interest enough to even give it a chance. But, being much more open musically these days, I gave Cory Marks a crack, listening to his third album Sorry For Nothing Volume 1.

It didn’t hurt that names like Sully Erna (Godsmack), Mick Mars (Motley Crue) and DL (Bad Wolves) were attached, but, much to my surprise, I actually enjoyed most of the album. There was one or two there that had a little too much country DNA left in them to cause me distress, but for the most part, it was a highly enjoyable album. Which brings me to Volume 2. Hangman has stadium rock written all over it, complete with hand claps in one of the breakdowns. Or does it? CORY MARKS Makes No Apologies For His Blending Of Country Music And Metal. Canadian musician Cory Marks has succeeded where many others have failed – or weren’t even game enough to try – by managing to bring elements of rock and metal into his country-oriented music and, more importantly, make it accessible to all sides of the musical fence. It is a musical amalgamation that by every letter of the law should not work, but somehow Marks not only makes it work. He makes it breathe. Whether by design or by plain old-fashioned luck, Marks has made the transition even easier over the course of his career by enlisting the talents of some of hard rock and metal’s biggest names with Sully Erna (Godsmack), Mick Mars (Motley Crue) and DL (Bad Wolves) providing notable guest appearances across Marks‘ three existing albums.

And it still works. HEAVY caught up with Marks on the eve of the October 3 release of Sorry For Nothing Volume 2. “It’s crazy to think that this is my second album in less than a year,” he smiled. Album Reviews: Cory Marks – Sorry For Nothing – Volume 2 – Hear 2 Zen Magazine. Country-rock sensation Cory Marks returns with Sorry For Nothing Volume 2, building on his breakthrough album where he teamed up with rock legends Mick Mars, DL from Bad Wolves, and Sully Erna.

This fierce follow-up fuses gritty riffs with heartfelt country storytelling, creating a bold, anthemic sound that proves he’s only getting better. The album kicks off with ‘Hangman,’ a track that draws you in with light guitar and a steady kick drum before exploding into heavy riffs and raw emotion. Cory’s gritty voice makes it clear, he’s here to stay, unshaken by the noise around him. ‘Change The Game’ shifts gears fast, with a grungy guitar intro dissolving into soulful vocals and country twang, a perfect showcase of his genre-blending talent. ‘The Heart Breaks When It Wants To’ is a poignant look at heartbreak, with emotionally charged guitar work that ebbs and flows like the feelings it captures. It’s a raw, honest portrayal of mourning and the difficulty of moving on. Tracklist:1. CORY MARKS Goes Down To The “Whiskey River” For His Latest Single - The Rockpit. A North Bay, Ontario native, Cory is redefining the boundaries of country and rock with his unapologetically bold sound. Influenced by his upbringing among country legends like Merle Haggard and the high-energy rock of bands like Rush and Ozzy Osbourne, as well as more recent standouts Bryan Adams, Brad Paisley and Eric Church, he has forged a style that is distinctly his own.

We are firmly in Zac Brown territory with “Wild Ride”, with the southern drawl, and the finger-picking guitars, powered along by the rhythm section. “Doing it your way knowing you’ll have the ‘gate keepers’ turning their heads, because it isn’t their seed planted or their own plan. With roaring guitars and thunderous drums, it tells the story of a condemned man walking his final mile thinking back to those western days; however, it’s more through the eyes of an artist (me) today—instead of begging for mercy, and following ‘flavor of the week’ or what’s expected to work and be commercialized he dares the hangman to meet him eye to eye and knows that if the right crowd of people gets to hear him.
