Will Stephen King's 'Under The Dome' Buck The Trend Of Disappointing Adaptations? Stephen King's 2010 bestseller “Under the Dome” has just been picked up by CBS for a series order, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The series is to premiere in the summer of 2013. This is yet another adaptation for King, and while many television versions of King's work have been disappointing, there are several reasons to believe “Under the Dome” will break the curse. There have been more than 25 television and movie adaptations of King's work, including “Carrie,” “The Shining,” “Cujo,” “Misery,” “The Shawshank Redemption,” “Stand By Me,” “IT,” “The Stand” and “The Green Mile.” The adaptations been hit or miss, with the movies winning most of the acclaim. “The Shawshank Redemption” was nominated for seven Academy Awards, “The Shining” was directed by Stanley Kubrick and featured the famous performance of Jack Nicholson, and Kathy Bates won an Academy Award for Best Actress in “Misery.”

“Under the Dome” will run for 13 episodes, giving King's story room to develop. How To Make An AR-15 Or Another Gun At Home: Start With A 3-D Printer. The Forbes story came about because the night before, Wiki Weapon had been suspended from the crowd-funding site Indiegogo due to “unusual account activity” -- in other words, the site had never hosted a project like Wiki Weapon before and decided that doing so would harm its reputation.

But for Cody Wilson, a 24-year-old Texas college student with clear libertarian leanings, this was all part of the plan. Since he first came up with the idea for Defense Distributed with his friend Benjamin Denio, a self-styled urban guerrilla, Wilson knew he had to test the waters in what he called “the underbelly of the Internet.” That meant first posting the raw concept on popular online forums like 4Chan and Reddit. Then, as word spread on these sites, crowdfunding would follow and give Wiki Weapon, which “seems like it’s not to be believed,” a “certain amount of legitimacy,” Wilson said. “We’re smarter than we look, how about that,” Wilson said, laughing. “It’s not much,” he said. If you were to walk into any gym and ask them about GPP, I’m not so sure you could get a good answer… …as a matter of fact I had no idea about General Physical Preparedness (GPP) in college… Sad admission, I know, but since then I have been reading a lot of eye opening texts on the importance of GPP.

General physical preparedness refered to as GPP, is a component of training. Many people only train to get stronger, but then run out of breath tying their sneakers. Louie Simmons explains GPP as “you have to be in shape to train, not train to get in shape.” By training, I believe Louie is refering to powerlifting – the sport that has given Louie a lot of recognition. GPP is the groundwork and general anareobic and aerobic foundations that a person can achieve BEFORE they get into heavy weights. To provide a more exact definition, GPP is explained by Medvedyev (1988): 1. 2. 3.

Any simpler? Probably not. Exercise, especially loaded lifts, require general abilities to be performed successfully. 1. To perform the max effort method progress to heavy weights for 1 to 3 repititions per set.

The heavy load (near max weight) recruits the most motor units. During max effort we are primarily training muscles rather than movement. 1. J. PS. Beginners Guide To Training – The 8 Rules : Synergy Athletics – Muscle and Strength Training For Athletes. I get a lot of questions about dead lifting and squat from guys that are 100 percent new to training. I love dead lift and squat, don’t get me wrong, but I hate when people try to go heavy with no form and relative body strength. It looks terrible and the only results they get are injuries. However, I can’t always blame them. You glance at the magazine rack and its packed with bodybuilder and star athlete’s training programs.

In the financial world, there is a narrow divide between heaven and hell.

Frenchman Loïc Féry realized this when he was 33. He was a rising star in the banking world, managing the trade in complex loan packages for an investment bank. According to his business card, he was the bank's "global head of credit markets. " But then one of his employees gambled away about €250 million ($317 million), and suddenly Féry was without a job. That was in 2007. Féry launched a hedge fund in London. But the Frenchman, who has become so successful that he was able to buy a first-division football club, FC Lorient, insists that companies like his make "a positive contribution to the real economy," because they manage risks professionally. Waltz with Bashir. Waltz with Bashir (Hebrew: ואלס עם באשיר‎, translit. Vals Im Bashir) is a 2008 Israeli animated documentary film written and directed by Ari Folman. It depicts Folman in search of his lost memories of his experience as a soldier in the 1982 Lebanon War.[3] This film and $9.99, also released in 2008, are the first Israeli animated feature-length films released in movie theaters since Alina and Yoram Gross's Ba'al Hahalomot (1962). Waltz with Bashir premiered at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival where it entered the competition for the Palme d'Or, and since then has won and been nominated for many additional important awards while receiving wide acclaim from critics. The film is officially banned in Lebanon.[4] Plot summary[edit] In 1982, Ari Folman was a 19-year-old infantry soldier in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Cast[edit] The film contains both fictional composites of real life figures and actual living people.

Title[edit] Production[edit] The film took four years to complete. Fungus as a Building Material. These bricks aren't made of clay, but mushrooms. Artist Philip Ross grows one species into useful, durable shapes: Feeding it agricultural waste, Ross grows each prototype onsite in an ultra-controlled environment, using a mold, filtered air, gravity, and pressure to achieve the shape: An armchair took two weeks to grow. Then he kiln-dies them, leaving little or no odor and a texture similar to high-density foam or cork. The species he uses, ganoderma, can attain almost any texture given the right conditions: "Fluffy cotton, rubber, high-impact plastic, cork, styrofoam, or a complex hybrid composite--all within the same monolithic object," he says.

Man, is there anything mushrooms can’t do? They make a damn fine fake meat, they make Mario bigger, caterpillars smoke hookahs on them, the whole nine yards. And now, thanks to a company called Ecovative, they can be used to replace styrofoam in some of Earth’s most persistent enemies: packing materials and car parts.

The fake foam actually grows itself — Ecovative fills a mold with a mix of mushroom spores and a waste material like oat husks, and over a few days the mushrooms grow and the roots glue themselves together into a strong and lightweight material. Like styrofoam, it’s also waterproof and fireproof. Ecovative’s founder gave a TED talk on the process last year, and now they’re rolling out the mushroom-based products about as fast as they can grow ‘em.

Terreform One Developing Buildings Made From Blocks of Mushrooms. Houses made from mushrooms used to be for smurfs — but the creative folks at Terreform One and Planetary One intend to create real houses from the prodigious plant. They are developing a new breed of “Mycoform” building blocks made from mushrooms that can literally grow themselves. The project uses a vegetative form of fungus known as mycelium, whose tendrils develop into a thick matt. In fact the growth of the fungus is so prodigious it can be considered the largest living thing on the planet. The fungus is apt at breaking down complex organic molecules in the environment and using them as building blocks. The team at Planetary One is harnessing this process to grow the material in molds using organic cellular material for food. The fungal building block concept is not only environmentally sound — it requires only readily available waste organic material and needs no extra energy — but it may also have the capacity to clean the environment.

Eben Bayer is on a mission: he wants simply to eradicate the polystyrene packaging industry. The trouble with 1-phenylethane-1,2-diyl, as the resourceful 26-year-old entrepreneur from Vermont sees it, is that, as no known microorganism can biodegrade it, it pollutes the oceans and clutters landfills -- making up around 30 per cent of US landfills alone, according to some estimates. In the 173 years since Eduard Simon first produced polystyrene, it has become a highly lucrative by-product of the oil industry, made using a liquid hydrocarbon derived from petroleum in a process that creates millions of tonnes a year.

But Bayer has a plan to change all that. His plan involves replacing polystyrene with mushrooms. Bayer is not a typical psilocybin enthusiast.
