Australia Roadtrip - Western Australia. This is the fourth in a series of posts about my 2011 roadtrip around Oz. Checkout Tasmania, South Australia and campervan purchase! Western Australia was almost the place that never was. I think after it is all said and done, my favourite state of the not too recent Oz Roadtrip was Western Australia. Many people rave about Western Australia – particularly the backpackers we met along our journey and I always just put it down to crazy Europeans being in awe of the sun and sand that they never get at home. But I was naive. Western Australia is a massive state that defies all comprehension.

Our first stop was the remote but modern town of Esperance on the south coast, 700km east of the capital of Western Australia, Perth. Stunning Beach in Cape le Grand National Park The next area I really loved was Albany. Greens Pool - My Favourite Beach Finally, I thought Perth was magic. Polenta & Mushrooms at Toast, East Perth City Beach, Perth We didn’t get further north than Perth. Working in a Hostel While Traveling - Have Pack, Will Travel. OK, you’ve handed in your notice, packed your bags, said bye to mum, paid off the credit card (well, most of it) and you’re off on your yearlong adventure.

Problem is if you are anything like me you’ve spent a little too long in Europe, enjoyed a couple extra flights in lieu of excruciating overnight chicken buses, sampled a few too many brews in Mexico and before you realize it you are not quite half way through your trip and over three quarters through your budget. There’s a plethora of articles out there on how to continue seeing the sights and meeting new people without breaking the bank. You would have seen signs at the hostels advertising for new ‘crew members’ or at least met a few of them during you’re travels. I recently volunteered at the Secret Garden Hostel in Quito, Ecuador. I was asked to work 8 hours a day, 6 days a week for a month, and in exchange I was given accommodation, 3 meals a day, all the alcohol I could drink and some Spanish classes.

Uttarakhand, India. Uttarakhand /ˌʊtəˈrækɑːnd/[2] or /ˈʊtərəˌkʌnd/[3] (Hindi: उत्तराखण्ड, Sanskrit: उत्तराखण्डराज्यम्), formerly Uttaranchal, is a state in the northern part of India.

Uttarakhand, India

It is often referred to as the "Land of the Gods" (Hindi: देवभूमि) due to the many holy Hindu temples and pilgrimage centres found throughout the state. Uttarakhand is known for its natural beauty of the Himalayas, the Bhabhar and the Terai. On 9 November 2000, this 27th state of the Republic of India was carved out of the Himalayan and adjoining northwestern districts of Uttar Pradesh.[4] It borders the Tibet Autonomous Region on the north; the Mahakali Zone of the Far-Western Region, Nepal on the east; and the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh to the south and Himachal Pradesh to the northwest. The state is divided into two divisions, Garhwal and Kumaon, with a total of 13 districts. The provisional capital of Uttarakhand is Dehradun, the largest city in the region, which is a railhead.
