The Japanese Professional Baseball (NPB) Yomiuri Giants have officially announced the recruitment of infielder Rugned Odor (30).
According to local media, including Sports Hochi, on the 22nd, the Yomiuri club officially announced that it had recruited Odor as a new foreign hitter. Full Count also reported that ‘Odor is Yomiuri’s first fielder reinforcement in the offseason.’ His uniform number is 23. Odor said through the club, "I am very happy to become a member of Yomiuri. Odor is a slugger who has hit a total of 178 home runs in the American Major League (MLB). He hit over 30 home runs in 2016, 2017, and 2019. Although his career batting average is 0.230, his accuracy is low, but his ability to hit long shots is excellent. In 2016, he made headlines when he got into a fistfight with Jose Bautista during a match. Last year, he played in 59 games for the San Diego Padres, hitting .203 with 4 home runs and 18 RBIs. There were question marks over his future after he was released from the team in July.
