SSG, a professional baseball team, was worried about its home turf ahead of the new season. Lee Jae-won (Hanwha) and Lee Heung-ryeon (retired) left the team. There is a promising player, Cho Hyeong-woo, but he is just beginning to build up his strength. We worked hard to reinforce our catchers throughout the winter. A representative example is the selection of Park Dae-on and Shin Beom-soo in the second draft last November. We also put a lot of effort into the coaching staff. We joined hands with battery coach Fumihiro Suzuki. Initially, Yoon Yo-seop was going to be the first team battery coach, but it was decided that a more experienced leader was needed.
That alone wasn't enough. We needed resources to help us stay centered. The focus was on keeping the ‘house rabbit’ Kim Min-sik. Negotiations did not go smoothly. A tug of war continued. The situation has changed drastically. SSG decided that a contract with Kim Min-sik would not be easy, so they activated Plan B. Jiyoung Lee was recruited on the 12th. An agreement was reached with Kiwoom on a sign-and-trade (2 years total worth 400 million won). In return, he gave 250 million won in cash and a third-round pick in the 2025 rookie draft. The window with Kim Min-sik was not closed. Four days later, on the 16th, news of the signing of a free agent contract was announced. An agreement was reached on a total of 500 million won for two years (annual salary of 400 million, incentive of 100 million).
