Kim Woo-jin and Lim Ji-hyun advance to the quarterfinals of the archery mixed event

Kim Woo-jin (32, Cheongju City Hall) and Lim Si-hyun (21, Korea National Sports University) struggled to advance to the quarterfinals of the mixed game.

Lim and Kim Woo-jin defeated Taiwan in the round of 16 of the mixed tournament held in Paris on the 2nd (Korea time) with a set score of 5-4 (37-35, 39-37, 37-38, 20-19). South Korea will compete with Italy in the semifinals starting at 19:34.

Korea, which ranked first in the ranking round, led from the beginning against Taiwan, the 16th seed, in the tournament. Lim dominated the game with 10 points from the first set. The other three shots were all scored on nine points. In the second set, Lim and Kim Woo-jin both scored on nine and 10 points before winning the match.

Taiwan also did not step down easily. She had eight points in the first set, but she hit two 10-point attempts and two 9-point attempts in the third set. In the fourth set, she hit all four of her shots with 10 points, pushing the Korean players to a corner.

Korea was stronger in the crisis, however. In the one-shot shoot-off, the arrows fired by Lim Si-hyun slightly crossed the 10-point and 9-point boundaries. Lei Chin-ying shot nine points. Kim Woo-jin calmly scored ten points to seal the victory.

Kim Woo-jin is about to write a new history. He became the first Korean male athlete to win three gold medals. Archery returned to form at the 1972 Munich Games, and team events have been included since the 1988 Seoul Games. He will be able to win up to three gold medals starting from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He has yet to win any men's gold medal. Im Si-hyun, who won three gold medals at the Hangzhou Asian Games, is challenging for three gold medals at the Olympics as well.
