Practicing chromatic guitar exercises can be an effective way to increase, improve and develop your playing speed, accuracy, and timing. These exercises will also help strengthen your fingers and give you better endurance and stamina, allowing you to play for longer periods of time without getting tired. If you practice these drills regularly as part of your practice session you can start to see positive results in just a few weeks. You don’t have spend many hours a day practicing these exercises, as that can get a little boring and it can be hard to stay focused for that long.

Ten to twenty minutes a day of focused exercise is much more effective than many hours of unfocused practice. After you have gotten an exercise memorized, start practicing it with a metronome, start slow, and slowly build up speed. If you need to play it a 60 beats per minute to play it cleanly, play it at 60 beats per minute. Try to resist the temptation to speed up the metronome before you are ready.
