Lee So-young 30, who is set to make a fresh start at IBK Industrial Bank of Korea in the women's professional volleyball V-League, burned her will to win the 2024-25 season and win an individual title.
"I shed tears for various reasons when I finished the regular season as a member of the presidential office of the articles of association last season," Lee said ahead of a training match against Toyota Autobody Queensays, a Japanese V-League team, in Nagoya, Japan on Sunday. "I want to laugh as much as I can since I started anew at IBK Industrial Bank this season. I think I should laugh twice before winning the title and winning the individual title."
Lee So-young, an outside hitter who represents women's volleyball, made a surprise move to IBK Industrial Bank during the off-season. She chose IBK Industrial Bank of Korea because of her challenge.
He said, "Coach Kim Ho-chul 69 told me that he needed me. He said he expected me to be aggressive, so I chose IBK Industrial Bank after a lot of consideration. I wanted to see how much I could improve myself compared to now by being with good players and learning from new coaches and coaches. I think it was a big thing that I longed for a new challenge."
It is the first time that Lee So-young is coached by Kim Ho-cheol. "Coach Lee gets angry only when he needs to be angry. Lee started the season late last year due to aftereffects of her shoulder injury. Before the post-season, she had to end the season early due to ruptured tendons in her ankle. In the new season, she plans to erase all of her painful memories. She is preparing for the season desperately. She even self-imposed night training. She also displayed impressive performance in a practice game with Toyota's Autobody Queen Says on Wednesday. She took the lead in offense and scored 11 points, and displayed extraordinary stability in defense as well. Notably, her persistent defense drew attention.
Nevertheless, Lee shook her head, saying, "I'm still not good enough." She continued, "I'm not satisfied yet. I think I'm not good at taking care of myself." "The same goes for practice games. Lee has two goals this season. She is dreaming of winning both the team title and the individual title. "I want to challenge for the championship one more time. I chose IBK Industrial Bank to do that," Lee said. "I will aim high and challenge myself."
She also expressed her desire to win an individual title. "I don't think I've won an individual title for a long time. I didn't want to win an individual title this season," Lee said. "Anything is fine. I want to be at an award ceremony after the season is over, and I want to win the MVP of the round. I also want to achieve my second triple crown three or more each of sub-scoring, blocking, and rear-end attacks."
