A good candidate for SMILE should meet the following criteria:

Age: The candidate should be over 18 years old.

Eye health: The candidate should have healthy eyes with no underlying eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, or retinal problems.



Vision stability: The candidate's vision should have remained stable for at least one year before undergoing SMILE.

Refractive error: The candidate should have mild to moderate nearsightedness (-1.00 to -8.00 diopters) with or without astigmatism (up to -3.00 diopters).

Corneal thickness: The candidate's cornea should be thick enough to allow for the creation of the lenticule during the SMILE procedure.
