What is pelviureteric junction obstruction (PUJO)?

Pelviureteric junction obstruction (PUJO) is a condition where there is a blockage or narrowing at the junction where the renal pelvis meets the ureter, which is the tube that carries urine from the kidney to the bladder.

This blockage can result in urine backing up into the kidney, causing swelling and damage to the kidney tissue.
