Initiating the Process

In order to effectively resolve employee disputes and ensure grievances are taken into consideration, it's important that everyone know the rules of engagement. We'll explore how other successful companies have established protocols for filing a grievance from start to finish so you can craft your own strategy seamlessly.

The First Three Stages

When a grievance needs to be filed, the peer review process begins. It starts with an employee submitting all relevant details and paperwork regarding their incident - whether it's in person or via form depends on which organization they are part of; smaller companies may give employees more direct access while larger corporations require that forms be dropped off at specific locations like staff rooms. To get started, check out the provided sample form!

As an employee, it's in your best interest to make sure the grievance form is filled out precisely with as much relevant supporting documentation attached. Contacting a facilitator sets off the resolution process without having to involve your manager - and don't forget about that "desired remedy" section for quick resolutions!

The Manager’s Role

The facilitator will communicate the grievance to the manager, who must then provide evidence of any relevant disciplinary actions. In addition to a sample form that comes next in this exercise, other documents illustrating rationale for their decision should be submitted directly to the facilitator's attention. With all materials compiled together and given due consideration, resolution can begin!

Other Documents

Digging through a wealth of evidence, an investigator may uncover photographs and building plans that shed light on the situation. Phone records could reveal unexpected connections, while job descriptions can be used to evaluate whether responsibilities have been carried out according to agreed upon terms. Financial transactions are tracked by expense receipts as well as mileage reports for business trips taken or goods received. E-mails among colleagues help provide crucial background information leading up until present day events in addition to production records from earlier processes, with working files enabling investigators piece together missing parts of the puzzle!
