I consider the main benefit of Ruby is that the code is incredibly beautiful and enjoyable to program in. There's also a very large ecosystem of libraries to help you accomplish almost any task. @valladolid: It's pure OO language, everything is an object. Automatic mem/trash management. A large array of free libraries. Some people say it's fun to code with because it gives the appearance of being neat, tidy and fast. The syntax is relatively easy to pick up on, read and begin understanding, even with no programming knowledge. The only issue I have is with the Ruby community. Of course not everyone is cocky, most of the bigwig users that actually make an impact aren't, it's the little people that insist that you just don't get it and that's why you are still using C++... bah monkeys.
