Make Your Own “Resort Quality” Liquid Hand Soap for Pennies. Whenever I go to our local thrift store…I’m always drawn to the room with all the health and beauty odds and ends because they have a big basket FULL of wonderful smelling soaps, lotions, shampoos and conditioners that come from fancy resorts and hotels in the area. (There are a lot around here, trust me!) The little bottles of lotion are the perfect size for keeping in your purse, the shampoos and conditioners are great for travelling (unless you’re staying in a fancy hotel, then you’re already covered) and the soaps (about .10 cents each), I have discovered, are perfect for making great-smelling liquid hand soap!
While I was working on the boys bathroom “mini-makeover” I came across a really old bottle of Dial liquid hand soap tucked in a drawer. I realized the new set-up called for a nice, new bottle of soap, but I just can’t bring myself to throw away perfectly good containers! The method for making your own liquid hand soap could NOT be any easier. Liquid Hand Soap Recipe. Leg Warmers pattern by Jane Richmond.

Vintage office rubber stamp set. CAVALLINI WOODEN STAMP SET PAR AVION: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home. I'm a paper and pen freak, and even though these stamps seemed a little pricey I decided it was worth a shot. And it was. These stamps are awesome and I love them, have been merrily stamping away. Someone commented the stamps don't have a foam seat between the wooden block and the rubber die - they don't. I'm not a huge stamp enthusiast (I like the end result rather than the stamp block itself) so I don't know why that's important.
They stamp beautifully - they are supposed to look vintage in my opinion so the canceling wavey lines do have a few parts which are fainter than others so it looks like it's been through the mail. None of the stamps have any problem with the dies not being finished nicely and their images all stamp beautifully. The stamps and stamp pad are kept together in a very nice tin so there is no mess or jumble, very tidy. Welcome to Norajane on Etsy by norajane. How to Carve Your First Stamp. Stamp Carving 101 After you have your desired image on your carving block, carving a stamp becomes nothing more than cutting away the parts of the carving medium that you don't need.
You have two choices: (1) Carving a negative image or (2) carving a positive image. A negative-stamp image—where you carve away the dark areas of your design—is quicker and easier, but tends to look less professional. The positive-stamp image—where you carve away the light areas from your design—generally is slower and more challenging to carve, but the results tend to look much better. Negative-stamp images (left) are quicker and easier to carve, but positive-stamp images (right) generally look better 1.
Usually your carving block will be quite a bit larger than the design you intend to carve. 2. Work in a well-lit area—it'll help immensely. 3. They are festive, fun and easy to make. They make a great gift and you can customize them really easy. In our house stars, rockets and spaceships are a favorite, so I made a garland in this theme but you can choose whatever you fancy.
Anything goes! You’ll need: Cutting boardScalpel/blade (or scissors)Stamps (I made my own, but you can use any you like, preferably symmetrical)Ink padGood quality craft PaperNeedle and thread & a cord Cut out your prints with a scalpel and print the back too. Take two identical prints. In the first print, you cut a vertical line from center to top, in the second print from centre down.
Fold your cut out prints together. The easiest way is to hang a cord in the right room and on the right place where the garland is supposed to be. Assemble together & done! Thank you Guusje for making us this amazing tutorial! Blog: Stamps Archives. MAKE Flickr photo pool member funnypolynomial made some awesome stamps from the future (Faster than light travel and turing, PostScript source and PDFs included) - I can’t remember the exact genesis, but one day recently the idea of “Stamps from the Future” popped into my head.
I thought, what kinds of things would people commemorate on postage stamps in the near or distant future? My first thought was travelling Faster Than Light (FTL). I really wanted to make such a stamp, but I stalled for a while because the image I had in my head of the stamp portraying some kind of spaceship, seemed tricky to execute. I wanted a sense of verisimilitude, so I wanted to do a sheet, but how to repeat the design? Making some kind of linocut just seemed too hard. I quickly decided I’d code it in PostScript, but I still stalled at the thought of basically creating a picture in code, even though by now I was imagining a simple cone-shaped spaceship.

I always enjoyed looking back at previous entries to see what had changed over the course of a year. These days, I can’t seem to find the time to journal, but I do try to jot down a little note from each day on my perpetual calendar/journal. The idea is very simple — flip to the current date and at the end of the day, write down something that happened.
Some days it is big things like “Annie took her first steps.” Other days it is small, like “needed more than one cup of coffee this morning.” The first year is the least rewarding, but I imagine that in 10 years, it will be a daily treat to be reminded of what happened on that date over the last decade.
