As we often do, we naturally split between the husbands and the wives, and catch up with one another on the latest activities. Among other things, the banter bounced around stress at work, longs hours in the office, and reluctantly planned business trips. As we talked, I realized that after I make the transition to be a stay at home dad, I would not have much to contribute in these conversations. I would have no complaints about work travel, or not having enough time to see my kid. The issue isn't that I will have extricated these types of problems from my life when I start working from home (I'm definitely looking forward to that.) During my initial research into becoming a stay at home dad, others often shared that it can be particularly isolating, since most of the time will be spent in the house, and away from adult interactions.

I am so excited to finally be sharing these benches with you guys today! Ana and I worked together on my Fancy X Farmhouse Table a few months back and it has been a hit! It’s such a great table for the money, and is so versatile too. I made mine for my back patio, but it would also make an amazing indoor dining table. Since then the temperatures have been well over 10o, and I have had no desire to sit outside!
I will share a few tips from my build here, and you can see the full set of plans for this great bench on Ana White’s site! These are really easy instructions! I used Gorilla Wood Glue and finish nails for all of my joints on the bases! Once you have done those, you attach them with your 1×3′s. Now for the top planks! Again… If you want the bench a different size, you would modify the length of these as well! That is a picture of the bases connected to the seat planks using Kreg Jig® using pocket hole screws.
