Book Page Sphere Ornament. Materials Needed:CardstockBook Pages or Scrapbooking PaperRibbonEmbellishments {glitter & bell} Begin by cutting a circle template from a piece of card stock.

Book Page Sphere Ornament

{I simply traced around a 2 1/2 inch diameter jar lid} Using the template, cut out 8 circles from a sheet of cardstock and 8 circles from book pages. You can use any paper you would like for these, however the ornament will hold its shape much better if at least half of the circles are cut from cardstock. Fold each circle in half. Start gluing together the circles, alternating between the card stock and the book pages. Before gluing the last two circles in place, tuck a piece of ribbon into the center for the hanger. To add a little sparkle you can brush on a tiny bit of white glue to the paper edges and sprinkle with glitter. All of the ornament tutorials featured are very basic and allow you to create them to your own personal taste and style ~ be creative and have fun! Creative ways to re-use your junk mail! Earth Day is a special day to celebrate the Earth and to increase awareness and appreciation of the Earth’s natural environment. And, I think making crafts from recycled materials such as the ones found here is a great way to teach children about recycling and the importance of doing that to help save our Earth. So, without further ado…. How to Make Recycled Paper Crafts.

Uses for Book Pages. I'm always in awe of creative thinkers and innovators.

Uses for Book Pages

People who take simple, everyday things and make them beautiful. Case and point -- these artists, who have taken their love for words, letters, script, and literature to a whole new level. Recycled Newspaper Baskets. Weaving A Basket. Fun and Crafty Uses for Newspaper. Gift Bags From Newspapers.

When I bought something at a store recently, the clerk handed me my purchase in a bag made from a newspaper.

Gift Bags From Newspapers

I liked it very much and had to make some more—thus today's DIY recycled newspaper project: gift bags made from the Wall Street Journal. You can vary the dimensions, of course, but here's what I used to create a bag that's 5" tall, 4.5" wide, and 3" deep. Stack two sheets of newspaper on top of each other.

This will be a two-ply bag for extra sturdiness. Cut out a rectangle that's 15.5" wide and 8.25" tall. Fold a flap 1.25" down from the top. Cut two pieces of cardstock or chipboard to 4.25" x 1", then glue them on the widest two panels just under the top fold. Put glue on the outside of the 0.5" tab and bring the left-most panel over to form the body of the bag, aligning the cut edge of the panel with the folded edge of the flap. Upend the bag so the 2" flap is now up. Put glue on both flaps and fold them inward to form the bottom of the bag. Uses for Maps. Map coasters.

Uses for Maps

Do it. Spotted here. Maps are one HOT TAMALE right now… Notice that? Here, there and everywhere – maps are popping up all over the net (that makes me feel so 1990′s). No matter how you look at it, maps are a fun addition to a home – especially for those that like a good vintage map (soft spot for moi), like travelling (for real, who doesn’t like travelling?!?) This might be the easier one: candles and vases wrapped with a little map paper. Don’t have any wrapping paper? Creative and Cool Reuses of Umbrellas. Wine cork bath mat

This bath mat requires just three materials: shelf liner, hot glue, and 175 wine corks. How did I gather 175 wine corks, you ask? Working at Sunset had its perks. With all the wine tastings in that office, collecting corks was a cinch. It was inspired by CB2’s bamboo bath mat, which is perfectly lovely and affordable but too big for my tiny bathroom, hence this equally eco-friendly version. Yeah, but how durable is it, you say?
