Strategies for Differentiating Private Universities

In this study, we examine how Japanese private institutions differentiate themselves in the market for higher education services. We propose that some Japanese private colleges prioritise educational endeavours, whilst others prioritise commercial endeavours. We also contend that the organisations charged with assessing the value of higher education are ineffective, and we suggest that the public sector enhance the efficiency of the organisations charged with disseminating data on Japanese private universities. The industry should also educate Japanese consumers so that they can assess the services that universities offer in their entirety.
