Shiva is the subject of the approximately 1200-year-old Hindu temple Kedarnath Temple. In the Indian state of Uttarakhand, next to the Mandakini river, the temple is situated on the Garhwal Himalayan range. The presiding image of Kedarnath, a lingam, has an uneven shape and a 3.6-meter pedestal (12 ft). Since it is shaped like a triangle, the Shiva Lingam in the Kedarnath temple is distinctive among Shiva temples. The deity's idol is transported to the Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath during the six-month winter closure of the Kedarnath shrine.
