Zines and teams. | (Game)CityHall. We’re a really small team working on GameCity, probably slightly too small. Still, it’s nice to be kept busy… Right now we’re at the largest we’ve ever been and the smallest we really can be to get the job done with four full-time people. We swell to around six or seven folks part-time in the three-four months approaching the festival, and then those people go full-time for the production weeks.
It makes for a strange, loping arc to the year but we’re getting used to it by now. During the development period of the festival, we spend a lot of time sketching out new ideas we’d like to try, creating hit-lists of people we’d like to invite and trying to as accurately as possible predict the possible effectiveness of a given event or project before making a decision about wether to push it into full-production or not. The development period is about incubating new ideas, and as much as possible create the space and opportunity for our team (and partners) to try them out. Lee likes Zines. Develop Conference in Brighton. The ever popular Indie Dev Day returns for the fourth year in 2014. It’s a day-long conference track with networking events taking place on Thursday 10 July, designed specifically for established independent studios, new start-ups, developers teetering on the brink of becoming an indie, freelance developers and students. And as part of the Indie Dev focus, we’re also running The Indie Showcase again from 9 - 10 July in the Develop Expo – which will feature 10 independently developed games unpublished by a third party, shortlisted by a panel of experts.
Delegates will have the chance to play all the games on display, and one of these games will go on to be judged overall Indie Showcase winner by our panel. All delegates will have a chance to vote for their favourite game in the Showcase via a "People's Choice" ballot at the event. The 2013 Indie Showcase Winners were: Nordic Game. Copenhagen Game Collective - Announcing the Nordic Game Indie Night Summit. We are super excited to announce the Nordic Game Indie Night Summit.
Every year we have invited the developers of the finalist games to do short presentations, which has led to wonderful and colorful talks. The sessions has always been a favorite of the audience. This is why we have expanded the talking and discussing part of Nordic Game Indie Night into a regular indie night summit. Nordic Game Indie Night kicks off the Nordic Game Conference, and it will take place Wednesday 23 May from 18.00 at Slagthuset, Malmö. So what is a regular indie night summit?
At Nordic Game Indie Night last year Martin “Grapefrukt” Jonasson and Petri Purho gave a fantastic talk about platformer physics, this talk made us think about how we talk about games. The Nordic Game Indie Night Summit will be a laboratory for how we talk about games in general and indie games in particular. The program will include the following speakers: Nathan Vella – who is also doing another talk at the main conference.
