{Recipe: European Hot Chocolate} Tuesday, February 15, 2011 I think I need to call Valentine’s Day out for what it truly is (or, in this case, was). It’s an excuse to buy your loved ones presents, to go out for dinner, to drink a bottle of champagne together. And do you know what? That’s ok! I’m all for finding reasons to eat lobster (as Eric and I did this past weekend) or whip up some chocolate souffles. But, really, Valentine’s Day is just like any other day… and it’s important to do special things with your guy or gal every once in a while.
The main thing is that you do something or eat something that you wouldn’t normally have. The first time I had “European hot chocolate” was in Paris when I was 15. And now I can’t think of anything that’s more romantic than some thick, rich, hot chocolate. 2 servings Ingredients 1 cup milk 1 1/2 oz. semisweet chocolate, shaved whipped cream or creme fraiche (optional) Directions Split the chocolate in half, but reserve a couple teaspoons, and put it in two mugs. Watermelon Lemonade and Strawberry-Mint Iced Tea. The sweltering Texas heat is beginning, y'all. And boy is it hot.

We are back in its suffocating grip, when the only thing that brings comfort is something cold. I mostly like the A/C and get fussy when John suggests we go somewhere. Here’s a recipe for iced coffee that’s PERFECT in every way. Brew a FULL pot of coffee. Fill a couple of ice cube trays with coffee. Leave the rest of the pot of coffee on counter to cool then store in fridge.
When you’re ready, fill a glass with your coffee ice cubes. Pour 2/3 rds full with coffee and the rest with milk of your choice. Pour in your milk or cream of choice. Put in sweetner of choice – it usually takes double the amount you use, only because you’re probably using a larger glass than your normal coffee mug. Give it a good stir. If you’re feeling sassy put in a straw and ENJOY! Like this: Like Loading...
