Glasgow band Laki Mera are not a band to rest on their laurels. After the success of their debut album The Proximity Effect, Laura Donnelly, Andrea Gobbi and Keir Long quickly set out to work on new material for their second album, knowing exactly what they wanted to do and spending countless hours in the studio to achieve exactly that. The result is Turn All Memory To White Noise, an album that artfully fuses electronics, strings, sampled sounds, and Laura Donnelly’s bewitching vocals. “The fact that we’ve written it, composed it, scored the strings and the brass, and recorded it all in such a concentrated period of time, is what’s made it such an honest record,” producer/multi-instrumentalist Andrea Gobbi explains. With Turn All Memory to White Noise the Glasgow trio stay true to their own sound, a subtle mix of folktronica and trip hop, and concoct an intimate, yet exceptionally produced album that will no doubt their numerous fans. umstrum||music umstrum||music

Salacious Sound

First off, since this is my first official post, I shall start with saying hello and nice to meet you! You might know me from pictures on Facebook and such, thinking what the hell is that eighties porn star looking guy doing with the Tracasseur duo. Well, news flash, we are a trio and apparently I am the worst blogger you've had the pleasure of never meeting. But all good things must come to a start, and here’s a starter for a love story; my best of 2013. So, witty introductions put aside, here is a somewhat late personal summary of the past year.

DISCODUST azari & iii. following up on the still lasting success of 'reckless with your love' (that we posted over a year ago) and their collaboration with friendly fires plus countless remixes for the likes of munk, runaway, cfcf, voltage and sunday girl, toronto's currently hottest collective azari & iii are back with their new single 'indigo'. originally supposed to be released on the resurrected trax records which never came through, it's out on turbo now instead. 'indigo' stays true to their classic house vibe but succeeds to sound fresh nevertheless, incorporating the same kind of slightly detuned chords we hear in a lot of borderline dubstep tracks from the united kingdom these days. buy the full release in high quality {*style:*}on junodownload{*style:*}.

Too Many Sebastians

Nostalgia time. A million years ago, when me and fellow blog pal Nashville Nights were nerding out about the goodness of Mix Chopin’s debut, ‘Bliss‘ I don’t think either of us realised how good he’d get. His newest track, ‘Never Let Go‘ which features Jim Jr on vocals is just a straight-up funky-house track, no ‘this is my brand’ nonsense. He’s made a track with one intention, to make you dance and christ, it succeeds. If their was one tiny criticism, it’s waaaay too short. Hopefully an extended mix is on the way ;).
