I remember a number of years ago someone sharing Psalm 35:1 with me. I was going through a challenging time and this individual encouraged me that God would fight on my behalf. This person reminded me that everything I say and do is a seed. For that reason I want to ensure that I continually sow good seed. Romans 12:14 says, “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.” Contend – to claim that something is true; compete against someone. Just the other day I was thinking about how grateful I am that God does contend on our behalf. Wisdom & Understanding - Zarlengo Ministries International. How would you describe the world today? Are people focused more outwardly (on others) or inwardly (on themselves)? If I asked those that you interact with on a regular basis to describe you, would the description include the word ‘kind’? As we continue in our summer series, today we will focus on the characteristic of love known as peace… Peace is an unseen force that can affect our seen world. Have you ever witnessed a scene where the environment was noisy, disruptive or perhaps even chaotic. So how does one tap into this peace? Isaiah 26:3 in the Amplified Bible says, “You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You.”

What does it mean to be faithful or to exhibit faithfulness? Is faithfulness evident in your life? Do you recognize faithfulness in others? Faithfulness can be a characteristic that one expects others to possess but may not necessarily be a characteristic that he develops himself. When I think of faithfulness, I think of loyalty and being true to your word. As I looked up the word faithfulness in the dictionary, it was interesting to see that the first definition listed is marked as obsolete. This week in the summer series we are discussing the attribute of love that is seen in faith or faithfulness. I remember as a little girl having conversations with my dad. Our conversations mostly involved me asking lots of questions and listening to my wise dad for answers. He had such patience with all my questions. Just as I had those conversations with my dad filled with many questions, I know that I can have conversations with the Father and also ask a myriad of questions. Following the direction of your eyes… Have you ever noticed that the direction of your gaze usually determines the direction of your movement? Gaze: to look for a long time with unwavering attention; a long steady look or stare. Proverbs instructs us to look forward and fix our gaze straight ahead. That is why the rearview mirror in the car is only for glancing, unless, of course, you are backing up. Glancing at the past, to make an assessment is one thing, but fixing your attention on the past hinders your forward progress.

What does it mean to bless? Well the dictionary defines bless as to bestow holiness on as in a religious ceremony; to watch over protectively; to declare approval and support; or to express heartfelt thanks. When I think of the word bless or blessing, I am reminded of the story of Abraham. In Genesis 12, God says to Abram (before his name change), “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.” Wow, those are some very impactful words! Not only did God promise to bless Abram but He also promised that Abram would be a blessing.
Empower is to give power or authority; to give a greater sense of confidence or self-esteem. As Abraham was successful on his journey, then he empowered others to be successful on their journey. In Exodus 19:18, God manifested His presence and fire, as He shook the mountain and spoke to His people. Fifteen hundred years later on Shavuot, or Pentecost which is Greek for 50, the church was born. Yet the Jewish people had been celebrating this date for 1500 years. This time God sent His Holy Spirit which sounded like a mighty rushing wind. Instead of speaking to them from a mountain, He came inside them and filled them with His presence and fire and spoke through them (Acts 2). Empower ministries international. I used to think he only came to die for our sins. Later I discovered that he also came that we might be made whole, and provided for.
