Homes. In contrast to yesterday's doom and gloom post (btw thanks for your sweet comments on that; you make a great support team ;)), here's a happy and cheery room for ya! I'm feeling A LOT better today... just had a lot to get off my chest yesterday. Yesterday was just one of those days when you want to abandon all common sense and run off into the woods and live wild with a pack of dogs and never shave and create a world free of stress and forget about the real world. Last night I had a nice talk with my Dad (thanks dad!) And I realized how much alike we are in dealing with stress than I thought (aka we tend to sweat the small stuff like there's no tomorrow). I went for a morning swim today and cleared my mind.

Needless to say, I'm feeling MUCH better today and optimistic about school and the blog and whatnot. I CAN do this :) But enough about me, how LOVELY is this room?! Desire to inspire - desiretoinspire.net. One of the coolest Instagram accounts that I follow is that of Ariele Alasko (@arielealasko). She is a woodworker and furniture builder living in Brooklyn, NY.

Her creations, from spalted maple bowls and walnut spoons, to wall panels and headboards, are spectacular. Her attention to detail is impeccable - she even has enough patience to fill walls with eucalyptus leaves! It's craziness I tell ya. You can check out her work on her website, but it is her home and studio (10 blocks away from each other - sweet!) In particular that I wanted to share with you today. Coups de cœur. ARCHITECTURE - SleekDesign. Elsie's Organization Tips. Today I want to share a few tips from my own home. I'm not the most organized person by any means, but these simple storage ideas have helped me a lot. First up, use a wood box as an instant shelf for shoes and boots. I love having this shelf, especially during winter months. It's a home for our rain boots most of the time! Bar carts really can work wonders! You can use all sorts of things to create storage for your home.

PS. I don't know about you, but if I can't see my accessories I forget I even own them! Small pieces are so easy to lose track of! I created this little jewelry display in ten minutes with push pins and paint swatches. If you don't want to spend big bucks creating custom shelving, try these ideas! I am constantly gathering inspiration, sketches and magazine clippings for future dress collections.

We painted our cabinets with chalkboard paint last summer. A little rope and clothespins can go a long way to create a pretty, but temporary, photo display! Something's Hiding In Here. Min favoritt er “barnedøren” på det siste bildet og treet med alle fuglekassene. Leave a comment About Copyright © 2014 Ideas to Steal.

Paperpunch Theme by The Theme Foundry. Kimberley's Food Blogging Haven Kitchen Tour. Kimberley lives in a rented home with a humble kitchen on Potrero Hill in San Francisco. She doesn't let an ordinary space keep her from making extraordinary food on her colorful cooking blog, The Year in Food. Join me for a peek into this food blogger's kitchen so we can collectively marvel at all the props and trimmings she uses to create beautiful images of food. Kimberley's kitchen has all the hallmarks of an imperfect rental kitchen — faux wood cabinetry, white walls and unglamorous appliances. Kimberley takes what she's got and works with it quite well; dotting the space with fresh flowers, handmade artwork and of course, a bevy of fabrics, plates and utensils to bring her recipes to life.

Kimberley writes about and photographs food for a myriad of clients, including Edible SF (she just shot the cover!) , Bon Appetit and Etsy. . • Visit Kimberley's Food Blog: The Year in Food 10 Questions for Kimberley (and Her Kitchen) 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Maybe it’s just me, but every now and then I come across a room that exudes a certain refinement, elegance, taste and confidence that can only be described as grown-up. These spaces have no gimics, no attention-grabbing features, no whimsy (although they may have wit). They are somehow both... Read More On Ohdeedoh! Replicate a room with furniture, lighting, and hard-to-find design elements. Moodboard: Home Profile. We just found out we have to move from our apartment again, which was a month to month rental while we searched for a house to buy.

We're discussing the option of signing a year lease for our next apartment, because not having a permanent home for the last couple of years is really starting to wear on me. I'm sure the minute we sign the lease the house of dreams will pop up, but I'm willing to risk it at this point. With this change comes an excitement about interior decorating again, and I'm already gathering together inspiration folders for our next home.

Dark, light, pattern and shine has always been my guiding theme, and I'm hoping I find some things in Rome and Florence to add to my mixture. This home belonging to Roman Alonso, the creative director of Commune, has so many things I'm drawn to right now. The first room, in all its bohemian glory, hits all the right spots with a sheepskin rug, patterned pillows, and rosy pink picture(still obsessing over this color). I love this quote: Design*Sponge » Blog Archive » diy project: cardboard faux logs. I have always adored a fireplace in the living room. Nothing beats the warm (in more ways than one) feeling that it brings. We have a great fireplace in our cozy little house, but we also have a little girl. As much as I would love to have a glowing fire in our fireplace and a hot cup of cider and a good book to go with it, a fire just doesn’t work with our lifestyle at the moment.

So in the meantime, to achieve that cozy feeling, I made cardboard logs to hold the fire’s place. Made of rolled corrugated cardboard, these logs are coated with plaster to add texture and a clean birch look. The cut ends are reminiscent of the rings in big, hefty logs, and the handmade appeal brings a special, fireless warmth that a pile of wooden logs can’t produce.
