Making Perfect Pants

Although the basic shape may change from season to season, pants have become a favorite fashion for women of all ages and for all kinds of activities. Every woman who wears pants wants them to look good and feel comfortable when she stands, sits, and walks. Three key factors contribute to successful dressing in pants: style, fabric, and fit. Style The first key is knowing which pants styles to avoid and which styles to use with your figure type. Seams, darts, gathers, and pleats may be used to shape the silhouette and create a horizontal or vertical illusion in the pants design. Follow these basic guidelines for selecting a flattering pant style: Shorter-than-average figures look taller when pants and top are the same color.

Fabric Selection Consider fabric texture and design carefully. Fit 2. DIY D&G high-waisted silk shorts. This is the first "silk-print = reuse a scarf " project. ...

And won't be the last one, either. This is a silk scarf that hasn't been worn in years. I guess it's the right time to put it to work! Full detailed tutorial after the jump! The pattern for my shorts comes from an old pair of torn pants to which I ripped off the seams and draw the pattern before throwing them away. If you take a pair of pants and put the inside out, you can draw your own pattern (even without ripping the seams off!)

Although looks like she ended up making the front side exactly like the back side - which in my opinion will lead to fitting "issues"} Tutorial: Lounge Shorts From a Sweatshirt. I've got a little upcycling project for you today.

Tutorial: Lounge Shorts From a Sweatshirt

I've had a lot of people view my yoga pants from a t-shirt post, and this project is very similar. Today I'll show you how to turn an oversized sweatshirt into a pair of sweat-shorts, perfect for sleeping, lounging, yard work, or exercising. At the end of winter I found this 5X sweatshirt at wal-mart for $1. It would be pretty difficult to find this much sweatshirt fleece at a fabric store for this price. So, this project set me back one dollar, but you could use any old sweatshirt or t-shirt to make some lounge shorts for yourself. The construction of these shorts is super simple, but the cutting of the shorts is key.

Cut down the center of the remaining piece. Unfold your two pieces, and place them right sides together, matching up the curve of the arm scythe. Sew along the curve using desired seam allowance. Try on your shorts and make sure that they fit properly. Here's a close-up of the stitched seam. It's waistband time. DIY Neon Jean Shorts. This is a perfect project for beginners: super fast, easy and instantly gratifying. We thought it would be great fun to surprise the whole family on Christmas morning with matching PJ pants. I recruited one of the cutest families I know to be our models, and the rest is dreamy history.

Our thanks to the great folks at Michael Miller Fabrics for providing the Bonnes Amies fabric we used for our four pairs of PJ pants. DIY Gold Painted Jeans

Such elaborate embroidering is beyond our skill set, so we figured stenciling a beautiful pattern using gold fabric paint would be a more feasible interpretation. Who knew paper doilies made the perfect stencil? Lightly spray the doilies with the adhesive and press down firmly on the jeans.
