Materials List Yarn - any, appropriate sized hook for chosen yarn. Finished Size Varies based on yarn & hook size chosen. Gauge Notes This motif begins with a four-color spiral. Colors A, B, C, D (each color is used, in turn, on each round) Magic Circle (adjustable) loop. Make a large loop by putting the yarn tail behind the working yarn (the yarn coming from the skein). The Pattern Begin with color A and a Magic Circle (adjustable) loop.

Rnd 1: * [1ch, 1sc, 1hdc, 2dc] in ring, remove hook, joining colors B, C, & D in ring in turn, repeat from *. Rnd 2: Continuing with color A, * [2dc in next sc, 1 dc in next hdc, 2dc in nex dc, 1 dc in next dc], repeat from * with colors B, C & D. If you read my previous post about giganto-blanket, you may notice that the gauge is much different from how it started. But the broomsticks proved to be just too small for this project. The cats really love it. A friend of mine asked for a video of the knitting process, so I recorded a (low-quality) video of this madness. Like this: Like Loading... So in the meantime, I crocheted my own Smaug. He is known as Smaug The Magnificent, Smaug the Golden, the Dragon of Erebor, and Bilbo also calls him Smaug the Tremendous. Unfortunately, I don't know yet what he will look like in Peter Jackson's movie so I based my crochet Smaug on J.R..R Tolkien's watercolour Conversations with Smaug. While I was crocheting my dragon, I noticed that he started to look too cute, and Smaug the Chiefest and Greatest of Calamities is not cute. To make him look more fearsome I added some extreme elements (well extreme as far as crochet goes).
